Annette contributed to two of Nightwish’s best Albums , fact. Sure she is not as operatic as Tarja or Floor but so what, those albums were brilliant and she sounded great.

Man I will never understand the sh*t Anette gets. Floor is world class and perfect for this band but you have to give all three vocalists credit. This band is not what they are today without the contributions of all of them. Give the poor woman a break and enjoy what she did.

I concur. Anette stepped into a stressful situation and ushered the band through a commercially successful stretch!

There is a very funny "misheard lyrics" version of this song floating around on KZbin and other places. From memory, the best part of these 'misheard lyrics go something like: "...Carrots that wander, never fading raiding, and Jesus Snow White Sorrow...something something 'hiding m&m's in a lamb!" bwahaha :)

May I suggest you react to "Slow Love Slow" live @ Montreux jazz festival to see and hear Anette live
@FrozenRose8162 жыл бұрын
Anette has a few different projects she is currently a part of: The Dark Element, which is pretty heavy; Allen/Olzon where she is partnered with Russell Allen, and her own solo music: the first album is more melodic rock, the second is metal and includes her husband on growling vocals. She has done a lot of music since her time with Anette ended and if you'd like to check into her newer stuff I think you'd like most of it as well.

The video is based on a Finnish painting, The Wounded Angel(1903) by Hugo Simberg Anette was more of a pop/rock style singer. Not many good live videos with her. One of the few is Slow Love Slow from 2012 Montreux jazz featival. If you have heard Tarja, the most operatic of the 3, it's not currently on the channel. To hear her , I recommend the 2005 Helsinki show( End of an Era DVD), songs including their cover of Phantom of the Opera, The Siren, Planet Hell, Sleeping Sun, or the show closer Wish I Had An Angel.

I like the rock/ppp sound they had with Annette, though it did not work out for too long. It's OK, they all went on to bigger things and better music. "Meadows of Heaven" (a ballad) was one of their best ever. "Seven Days to the Wolves" with Annette absolutely slayed as well. This video blasted them from an obscure metal eurogroup to international stardom. They had a loyal following, but this period started their huge world tours and brought female fans to the concerts. Some particularly butthurt metal fans did not like her voice after Tarja, and they spewed their hate on her online, but F them. It is hard to remember Annette fronted the band for 5 years.

There are three great versions of this song - the one you just reacted to, live at Wacken 2013 with Floor singing, and the demo of the real original with Marko singing. It was originally called 'Reach' and is very slightly different - the song was written after Tarja had been fired but before Anette had been hired, which is why Marko did the demo. It's on KZbin if you want to check it out.

Let me help you... founding member and 1st female lead, Tarja, is pronounced Tar-Yuh. Normally we would suggest live performances from Nightwish, sadly, not so many strong ones during this period. Do see Anette back up Marko in the original video Bye Bye Beautiful...its a total banger!!

Good song and I like the vocals, but it's awfully poppy for them. They have such a great catalogue of material and are a great band to go down a wormhole with. This song is ok but just doesn't do it for me when I think of their darker material.
@sannalopperi-vihinen2332 жыл бұрын
Anette has a really nice, clear voice, but I’m partial to Floor. I saw Anette live a couple of times and her voice didn’t quite have the power to pull off some of the songs. For a good song and another really cool video, try the newer version of Sleeping Sun. It’s from the early 00s with Tarja (pronounced Tarya) in the lead. There is also an older version of the same song where Tarja is singing in a more classical technique and they still have their original bass player Sami. That video is fairly bad quality and Tarja has a weird-ass Marge Simpson wig. :D

@nicod13612 жыл бұрын
@@AndyMagnusson70 well, I think when people throw around the word "great" or "incredible" "amazing" etc when referring to Anette's vocals when there is not one single vocal coach who would agree then what does that say about Floor & Tarja who are OBVIOUSLY much more talented ?
@FrozenRose8162 жыл бұрын
@@nicod1361 Actually Anette's own long-time vocal coach would probably very much disagree with you. And even Elizabeth from the Charismatic Voice, who has done in-depth analysis of all types of voices in rock and metal, thinks Anette is quite good and even did an interview with her and Russell Allen. If a classically-trained, world class opera singer can find something good about Anette's vocals, then it's obviously you with the problem.
