I liked the original series but it has a lot of weak points that makes it bad (I'm talking about the first two seasons). SAO Abridged isn't just a parody. Of course it's hilarious but it goes far more away. Keep going! 👍

yeah I noticed visually I had it confused with kill la kill, that's the kind of outfits I was expecting haha. And yuss, we prefilmed a few of these and both rly liked it, it really started feeling different from just a parody! We'll definitely finish this series. c: - Cas

The SAO plot is a bit of a ripoff of a number of previous movies and books, Something Witty even lampshaded it by mentioning Tron. Another very similar story is "Killobyte" by Piers Anthony.

​@@isaandcas4118 OOooh yeah Kill la Kill has a lot of that. But Kill la Kill is a way better show than SAO imo because while it goes full on nudity it actually says something about nudity and societal norms of clothing and the way it affects the coming of age of its characters, it's the entire point of the show, (it's not perfect mind you, sometimes its message gets lost in the gratuitous nudity, but it's much better than 99% of the anime using fan service). There's only one thing I really dislike in KlK and it's something the original SAO does even worse, the sexual assault of characters :/ SAO abridged is way better than SAO at respecting its characters fortunately.

bc my friend and I have pretty much the exact same taste in anime, since we agree on everything else chances are I wouldn't like what she doesn't like. Also I wasn't planning on watching it in the first place, if I was I would, regardless of friends' opinions!

People hating on SAO like psychopaths again, god bless the anitubers. 1. No, its not a harem 2. Most of SAO's 'weak points' are probably refutable 3. Abridged is, in fact, a parody and not an 'upgrade' to the original, the creators of abridged are saying so themselves and they have nothing but respect for the original series 4. The execution is anything but bad for 2012 standards. If it was, SAO would have never become this popular Stop parroting the anitubers that dont bother doing research and spread nothing but lies and misinformation out of spite for SAO's popularity.

I in all honesty had it confused with kill la kill, that's what I was expecting character design wise, hence why I called it titty anime haha. But I did like the animation so far, nonetheless ppl can.... not like things and that's fine too? Tbh I'd probably like it if I watched it, but that doesn't mean ppl can't disagree with your opinion on SAO. And I didn't think anyone thought of the parody as superior to the anime, I mean its obviously still a parody in the end, even with a plot intact, but if they do that's also their opinion. You're allowed to like things even if others don't haha

​@@isaandcas4118 Thanks to the anitubers, SAO now has the reputation of being the most hated anime of all time while still having a huge fanbase. I dont care what your opinion of SAO is, but it should be your own view that isnt blatantly influenced by anituber bias and misinformation. Calling SAO 'a bad harem' when it obviously focuses on other genres (scifi, drama, action, romance) and isn't even a harem tells me, that they only say negative things for the sake of hating/trashtalking because the anituber trend tells them 'SAO is bad and you should feel bad for liking it' and therefore it's 'cool' to hate on it. Other people are scared of saying they like SAO unconditionally because of this. It has been a huge circle jerk for years, especially on youtube. 'If you like SAO, your taste is trash' that's just the consensus here because most SAO fans choose not to be vocal against the haters.

SAO looked fun from what I can see from the parody, but I can't say more than that bc I haven't seen it. Anyway, my opinion on it isn't based on what other ppl say & you're allowed to like what you like, if there really is a consensus like that its stupid. It's just anime, there's no point in bashing ppls taste over it. I'm too old for this

​@@isaandcas4118 As you can probably tell, some people here in the comments are trying rather hard to sway your view on the original, so instead of pointlessly watching a parody of a series you don't even know, I'd suggest you watch the actual show first so that you at least get what is being parodied. Also, boku no pico isn't even an anime tv series, its just a porn OVA that people who discuss anime couldn't care less about.
