I love you guys ...... and as a huge fan of Slipknot, your reactions are so pure. They are amazing live, seen them several times. Yes, Corey does rap, growl, singing, etc. Probably one of the most talented front men ever!! And that drum set is actually spinning and vertical. All part of the incredible Slipknot image. Btw, my Halloween costume this year (2023) is Corey Taylor, with this exact same mask and outfit!!!! Woooooo!!

The songs I would recommend for Mrs Coach - Acoustic version of Snuff, Killpop, Vermillion Pt 1 & 2. The songs I would recommend just because they’re great songs or they show off their talent - Unsainted, Nero Forte, The Devil in I, Sulfur, My Plague, Left Behind, and Psychosocial. There’s a lot more, but those will be good to get you started.

Oh how I love it! In this song Cory Taylor was firing back at a radio station from their hometown (if I remember right) that was talking shit about them them and claiming they'd never go anywhere or make it in the music industry with their style and sound. Boy where they proven so very wrong. Slipknot pioneered a new direction of metal.

@@reaper3393 I'm personally more of a fan of the acoustic but that being said I'm not big on added audio to Music Videos. Also the A.H.I.G. album is where I "stopped listening". I gave the later albums a chance but the vibe changed too much for me to really get into them. I feel it's important to note that I've been listening to Slipknot since roughly 2002 when I was 11 before Vol. 3 even dropped. It was either "The Heretic Anthem" or "Surfacing" for my introduction to Slipknot (and metal as a whole).
@reaper3393
@reaper3393 Жыл бұрын
@poesenpai6475 that's about when I got into them as well, sounds like I'm couple years older than you. I get that a lot of people who are deep in tune with a band's root albums often don't quite adapt to the artists' change later on in the lineup as time passes on and the sound evolves. That's what happened with a lot of Korn fans around the See You On The Other Side album. I tend to be accepting of my favorite bands' evolution and love all of Slipknots albums, though the latest one has me only feeling for a few songs rather than the entire or majority of the album.

Eff yeah Coach and Mrs. Coach.. Welcome to being a Maggot (that's what the slipknot army has been referred to-- what the band thought it looked like looking out into the crowd, living breathing creatures) Joey#2 was an absurdly talented drummer. Will be considered one of if not the best to come through music - especially metal. Paul #1 was pretty far into his addiction around this time. They will both be missed. This song is about feuding with a local radio station that refused to play their music. Corey went right at them - which is why he went with rap (which was rooted in battle rapping). The lyrics are pretty direct in what he wanted to convey to them "Spit it out. All you wanna do is drag me down. All I wanna do is stamp you out " he lyrically stamped out some little radio station in Des Moines. After the jump up "Eff me I'm all out of enemies" The intro, was knocking the beer keg off to be used later (not shown) in the last moments of the song you can hear Clown playing the Keg with an aluminum baseball bat. The outro song (Til we die) after with the bro hugs. There was a lot of turmoil within the band throughout the years. Drugs and vices became more and more relied on while on stage they were sacrificing Blood, sweat, tears, and their bodies (just Corey the front man had both his knees scoped and surgery to repair his kneck from going too hard). This song would later be used in a tribute where they would bring out Paul's bass, jumpsuit and mask. They were all really talented driven artist. Shawn (clown) and Paul (pig) were founding members.

Great reaction, guys. It's ok for you to bring up lyrics to follow the message. The more metal you listen to, the more your ear will pick up. As far as the rotating drum kit, it was borrowed Motley Crew and quickly became a crowd favorite. Tommy Lee went a little more crazy playing almost upside-down. But if memory serves, there were performance issues and just sideways was used.

The "Genre" of music that Slipknot fall under is Nü-metal. Which has a few differences from Metal. 1 is there is rap/r&b influences, and a lot of songs are "rapped". A second difference is the importance of the Bass and the Guitar is kinda flipped from traditional metal, you will very rarely hear a guitar solo from a Nü-Metal band.

@CoachCastTV they would be a similar genre to Limp Biscuit or Linkin Park, who both use rap in their song. But Slipknot would be much much heavier. Mushroomhead would also be similar enough to Slipknot. A fun song to listen to by Mushroomhead is Crazy, which is a cover of the Seal song. Another big band of the genre is Disturbed, who have a fantastic cover of the Simon and Garfunkel song Sound of Silence.

I sat through that - and yes, I watched the entire performance - with a baffled expression on my face, jaw hanging open, with the occasional incredulous giggle breaking through. I have no idea what the guy was singing about, but that beat... and the occasional hint of a guitar riff... was almost fun. Then when the drummer did his thing... head shaking in disbelief, I burst out laughing. Yes, a great show. No idea about the song, though. If you fancy something completely different, I have just experienced the Danish National Symphony Orchestra playing the theme to the film 'The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly'. Don't be put off by the fact that it's a symphony orchestra. This is an orchestra with a difference. I think you'll love it!
