Sweden had very liberal migration-policies from 2005 upuntil 2015 (and also quite liberal for 10-15 years before that). But there was a big backlash in 2015 when we took in 160 000 migrants/refugees in one year (due to the war in Syria mainly) and a lot of cities where overwhelmed. Segregation problems also started to become more apperant and we started to have bigger problems with gang-criminality/shootings in suburbs with a high immigrant-population. (This had been increasing since the 90’s/early 2000’s but became much more apparent around 2014/15 when the shootings started to increase a lot). . The nationalist/anti-migration party grew a lot because of this and is today the second biggest party in parliament and these days most parties say we need a strict migration - and have a rhetoric that is very different compared to what was mainstream in politics before 2015/16. . So theres been a huge shift. Politicians and some people have become more nationalist/radicalized and many have become more conservative. (Both on the left-wing and the right-wing side, but especially on the right-wing side). The level of racism is still low in Sweden compared to most other countries though. That a large majority of the population thinks that the migration-level has been too high doesnt mean that most of them have a negative view of migrants.
@scyphe12 күн бұрын
The real problem is that we've had weak and ignorant governments since the early 2000's. They still haven't figured out how to solve the problems with integration and socioeconomical situations. It doesn't matter which side of the political spectrum, they're like headless chickens who're unable to come up with a way to fix it. It's a difficult problem but the effort put into solving the underlying issues is laughable. They're trying the easy way out by populism; sending them back to the country of origin, revoke citizenships for criminals with immigrant backgrounds, implementing harsher undemocratic policies that makes it easier for police etc. to tap phones/computers etc. as well as zones where they can be body searched without any clear reason or suspicion. The problem with these is that it further alienates a huge group of people in Sweden and thus making things worse.

He's not funny, just annoying, 99% of his "jokes" are of the type "I'm Kurdish, my mother is hairy" and saying some shit about Swedes!! To be honest, it is different if a immigrant comes from a Islamic country with big difference in their culture or if they comes from the western countrys more similar to us. Since 2015 when lots of immigrants came we also imported a lot of problems to the Swedish society. It's nothing wrong if they come here and work and makes an honest living but a lot of them doesn't and use our system and benefits and many of the younger immigrants are criminals in gangs. So even if many Swedes are PK (Political Correct) and welcomes everyone with open arms there is also a lot of Swedes that don't want them here and saying welcome to an American and the other way around to the immigrants he's talking about.

We sure often say second generation immigrants about children of immigrants but it’s typically if they ”look foreign” to us, usually meaning not blonde and they usually have heritage from outside of Europe because the use of the term ”foreigner” has somehow changed a bit from being a person from another country to being from another country and also from outside of Europe, I think this changed gradually the last few decades.

He can be fun.. But I mostly don't like his content. But I think his way of kinda looking down on us shows the friction between Muslim culture Swedish culture clashing. We r complete opposites of each other. And the racism and distain many Muslim communities have against the west have made them not wanting to be respectful to us and not wanting to actually integrate to our customs or even rules in the country. I think many swedes do distance themselves from this kinda mindset that follows Muslim communities, just bc of how hostile they r to us. And how they behave towards woman makes you actually feel like U can be in real danger. Which destroy the great balance we used to have with very little crime and feeling safe everywhere. Which u can no longer feel. So I do think there is some truth to it that we distance us from them. And since very few Arabs aren't Muslim the wanting to stay away from danger has sipped into staying away from Arabs too in a way. But I've never seen a swede being mean to anyone or any culture. I actually feel like it's the other way around. We give people the benifit of doubt, but Arabs might need to prove themselfs more to us for us feeling safe with them. My best friend is from Syria BUT him as his family where always Christians, and they where not radical like many Muslims can be. Considering we didn't have that much problems with immigrant before the refugee stream of Muslims in 2014, I think it proves we r considerate people to all who also is it to us. The issue only started when a certain demographic came in who do not show respect. It's a reaction of their disrespectful behavior that has its roots in Islamic thinking.

Hollywood and V8 cars have Influenced swedes a lot over generations, especially from the 50:s and on, and its actually the working class that mostly adapt to the culture and cars and Springsteen and so on, but they dont care or dont like us politics. Some Arabs are so far away from our cultural norms as you can get, but they will never really understand how to think like a typical swede, it probably take generations if ever because many swedes are a bit stupid unselfish, naive and verbal/socialy untrained and value the truth. Arabs actually are closer to Trumps behavoiur than an average swede, even if he is on the Jewish "side" so arabs often hate US and the west, which he proves.
