Hi all, sorry for my absence in the comments since I’ve been travelling for work for the past week-but let’s all show some love for MOO YT! She did an amazing job putting this guide together, it must have taken so much time and effort because it takes me hours to edit my videos when I’m literally just sitting there! 😅 and she did it all for the purpose of helping new fans with more updated information, which I really appreciate having. I’m sure the purple hawke guide is awesome too based on your comments, will definitely be checking it out in the future, but I wanted to make sure MOO YT got the credit she deserves for her hard work and dedication to the fans. the insane amount of university and festival performances they’ve ran during the UOAY era really built up their loyal fanbase as their charm is when they’re singing live

Yeah, while I am sure it was brutal playing all those music festivals in their early years, it built them much of their loyal fan base, and that paid off the group's/company's debts from training and debuting them, so the members started making money. This is a thing for nearly all new groups whether with a small company where they are the only act or even with a big company like SM. When you are new you are heavily indebted. The sooner you can get out from under that debt, the better. Lot's of luck involved though, as sometimes no matter how hard you work or how well your company markets you, you just don't catch on with the public and after a few years you haven't reduced your debt or it has actually increased. That's why so many groups just get shelved after 3 or 4 years. It becomes obvious that further investment will not be rewarded. While it likely sucked for the members to have to play multiple festivals a day, the fact that they were wanted at multiple festivals to perform was actually a really good sign. Nothing sadder than sitting in your dorm at festival season and knowing that no festival directors are calling your bosses wanting to pay you to perform.

Yeah, but the Purple Hawke one was back in 2020. The members have done so many things just in the 1st half of 2022 that the PH guide looks a bit outdated. It was well-edited, but this 2022 guide has better overall information that delves into the members' traits more than, say for example, Solar "being the literal muscle" or Moonbyul "having tons of women". Both guides aren't perfect, but the Moo YT guide captures what MMM has been doing these past 8 years, not 6 years.

Moo YT based her guide on Purple Hawke's Introducing Mamamoo and it's definitely worth watching as well. Answers and info about your questions and things you commented on: Solar covered Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On in her solo set during MMM's 4 Seasons F/W concerts. MMM's lightstick is shaped like a daikon radish. Moo means radish and MMM fans are called moomoos. Before there was an official lightstick moomoos used to show up at MMM events with real radishes and radish masks. lol Moo YT mentioned that Mamamoo was the first group to debut under RBW. There are currently 4 other RBW groups: boy groups Vromance and Oneus, rock band Onewe, and girl group Purple Kiss. If you like great vocals look no further - RBW has some of the best male and female singers of the 3rd & 4th generation. When MMM debuted RBW was a tiny startup company lacking the money, staff or clout in the industry to support & promote their new group properly. As a result the girls got used to doing things themselves and have always been involved in all creative aspects of their career including songwriting, vocal arrangements, choreography, styling and MV concepts. Since they didn't have many scheduled events in the beginning they busked on the streets of Seoul to promote themselves. Once they started to gain some traction they would appear at up to 4 events per day. Moomoos often say RBW overworked Mamamoo but imho MMM was fully on board with their busy schedule. The girls paid off their trainee debt in record time and have always been known as one of the hardest working groups in an industry infamous for its insane work ethic. MMM appeared on the singing competition tv show Immortal Songs 2 fourteen times between 2015-19 and Solar was on the show once as a soloist. All are must-see spectacular vocal showcases. You're correct that you'll have copyright blocks or strikes if you react to them on yt but some reactors have gotten around it by filtering the videos. You can safely react to MMM's performances on Queendom - MNET doesn't block reactions for that show. Other live performances that are safe for reactions include their medley on Dingo Killing Voice and Where Are We Now & Mr Ambiguous on It's Live, as well as the Immortal Songs Medley, which was professionally filmed at a MMM concert in 2017 and is ok for reactions because the vid was uploaded by a moomoo. All are highly recommended. Moonbyul's solo song Selfish featured a guest appearance by Seulgi of Red Velvet. MMM & RV are good friends. I noticed you didn't give a shout out to the person with the Korean name at the bottom of your Patreon list. Not sure this will help since my knowledge of Korean is minimal but it looks like their name is pronounced Ul Ee Eok. That's not a very common name (or at least it's one I'm not familiar with) so I entered it in google translate and it was romanized to Woo Lee Eok. Eok is pronounced like "ock" as in lock or rock. Romanization of Koreans words and names is always just an approximation of how they sound and can be deceptive but if you want to give 울이억 a shout out that's the best I can do.

Solar really likes BTS’ song, Blood Sweat and Tears. There’s a couple “try not to dance” videos where she really struggled to not jam out to the song. The idol that you saw Moonbyul with, where you said that she didn’t look like any of the Mamamoo members, is Seulgi of the girl group Red Velvet. In MAMA 2019, Hwasa performed with Dua Lipa for “Don’t Start Now/New Rules” performances. The two would drop a remix of Dua’s song “Physical”. Over the course of their career, Moonbyul was assigned as a leader for two groups; a unit on the show Queendom, and IIRC a group from a variety show called Girls Next Door (whom Seulgi was also a part of).

personally I'm not sure if the older guide has so much more relevant details to offer. Yes, some aspects are given which aren't in the newer guide. I think it's for the most part due to the length of the videos. I'm also not sure if other parts are so relevant and interesting like solar being the "muscle" of Mamamoo. ;-) on the other hand the "greasy" part is in purple hawkes guide better presented

thank you for looking at my guide! I always have to mention this, yes purple hawke's has way better editing and many people prefer it over my guide but it is super outdated! i hesitated over making this guide for a long time because I knew the standard for a guide was set so high for this fandom, but I decided to do it anyway because I thought it was way overdue considering how fast mamamoo puts out content and stuff. (also purple hawke is on an indefinite hiatus) I did still work super hard on this guide though with less than a week deadline, it's a shame that it's a bit discredited bc the bar was already set so high! 😭

personally I'm very thankful for your guide and really appreciate all the hard work and effort you put in. Especially that you used your own voice instead of a robotic one. Every moomoo can agree Purple Hawkes guide edits are just AMAZING 😍🥰 and is such a good guide so if you do have time I would recommend you watch it. But I also Love this guide too. It's shorter (people tend to react to shorter vids so I'd rather people react to one than not at all if it's too long 😭), has the group guide as well as member guide, is updated, has more Moonbyul vocals and goes into Solars leadership. MoonByul is number 1 songwriter credit among female idols and 26th among all idols.

I want to add that while the girls were a little overworked in their early days with the multiple festivals, there was a benefit to that. And in fact, some of their industry seniors advised them to work a lot and work hard _now_ to get rid of their debts while they're still young. Mamamoo paid back their debt/the investment the company put into them in a record 1.5 years (slightly short of 2 years), which is uncommon for girl groups to do so quickly. As a result, they earned their freedom early and were allowed to move out of their dorms and live independently very early into their career, as well as start earning more money for themselves. So it wasn't all bad.

I'm so glad that you FINALLY reacted to a Guide to them, this Guide is pretty good but the best guide was the Purple Hawke Guide because it showed a lot more of each Member and the editing is just Amazing! Mamamoo really are the Vocal Queens (with Red Velvet, I seriously can't wait for you to check out some Red Velvet these girls are also INSANE with the Vocals, Harmonies, and the High Notes especially Wendy she is one of the best or probably the best Vocalist in K - Pop but they all are PHENOMENAL), they are also LGBT Queens as well and they are Hilarious as you can see! And sadly I have not gone to one of their Performances I wish I just don't have enough money for it, anyways I can't wait for you to react to Mamamoo such as more Music Videos, B - Sides, Live Performances, Covers, Dance Practices, Moments, and of course Ships! @@YoshiPotter88 I've seen a handful now, and they were all _at least_ enjoyable, and in many case, yes, amazing. I saw Stray Kids and Dreamcatcher (my ults; well, now co-ults with Rolling Quartz) back in '19, and Day6 in January 2020, just before everything shut down. All awesome, and I also met Deukae (minus Handong, who'd just left for China that week) at their London fansign... 😁 This festival, MIK, was my first live show since then; it featured Holland, Cherry Bullet, Golden Child, Chungha, VIVIZ, Pentagon (the main reason my mum and I went), Suho and RV. Billlie were _supposed_ to appear as well, but two members tested postive, so they had to cancel, which was a pity; they were one of the groups I was particularly looking forward to. For me, I quite enjoyed Holland and Suho; CheBul, GolCha and VIVIZ were a lot of fun; Pentagon and RV were _outstanding._ PTG remained the highlight, though. 😁

Thank you so much for taking the time to go through the 2 Part guide. Moo YT did an awesome job highlighting many of the key information and I'm always so happy when reactors take the time to react to it. The fact that you recognize and appreciate the hard work that went into it is awesome. The Purple Hawke guide is also worth checking out as well. There are overlaps in some info but there are also some that didn't make it to this guide. The editing on that is also pretty impressive. There is endless Mamamoo material to react to so the possibilities are endless. For MVs, I would recommend Aya, Gogobebe, Where are We Now, Dingga, Yes I Am. For Live performances, Dingo Killing Voice, their Immortal Songs Medley (medley of songs they did on Immortal songs 2) are common ones to react to on YT so should be safe. The Immortal Songs 2 peformances, MAMA performances, Queendom performances are all worth checking out, but likely better on Patreon as you said. Immortal Songs 2 performances are a must to truly experience Mamamoo's vocal capabilities and I highly recommend Backwoods, Wonderful Confessions, Passion Flower, Love Story of a Girl. There's of course also their solo work which I won't throw out now because this could go on forever. Once you're into their music, you may want to also check out some of their offstage stuff as well (i.e. variety shows, mmmtv, member YT channel videos, etc) to see their dynamics offstage. I loved your comment about not being able to stop smiling. That is a common side effect of watching Mamamoo. We've all experienced it 😊😊 Looking forward to more Mamamoo on your channel and Patreon!

I am glade you are getting into the only other girl group I Stan- Mamamoo. Um Oh Ah Yea was the first song of theirs I heard, but back then I was not much into KPop outside of the 3 groups I listens to at the time. Um Oh Ah Yea was released in 2015, I listened to it in 2017 on a request for a friend. I did not find Mamamoo again until HIp back in 2019, then I went back and watched Um Oh Ah Yeah and watched other videos. Egotistic was my 5th MV I think and it is my favorite song, so I was glade that you reacted to it. I love Mamamoo for the same reason I love Dreamcatcher- stupid talented, do their own thing musically/don’t fallow the popular trends, crazy/beagle energy. Moonbyul is my bias. Moonbyul is a freaking girl crush- girl crush before BlackPink and such. I love her deep voice.. and she only had I believe 6 months to learn how to rap before debut. Solar helped her learn how to rap. Solar is my official bias wrecker.. thanks Egotistic. Wheein and Hwasa do also wreak me for all 4 of these queens will wreak you. Wheein,or Wheepup as I call her because she is the puppy. Solar is the rabbit, Moonbyul is hamster and Hwasa is Lion. I adore Moonbyul’s sining voice. It’s precious to me. Many are surprised to hear Byul sing, but she did spend years training to be a vocalist because she had to be a rapper in Mamamoo for reasons… While Solar and Wheein are Angel Line, and Moonbyul and Hwasa are Rapline they can all rap and Sing. Sleep in the Car and 1 cm Taller.. Egotistic, Decalcomanie, HIP, Gogobebe, Paint Me, Starry Night, Aya, Yes I am.. Mamamoo can’t do a bad song.. I call HIP “the song to the haters”. I have watched most of Solar’s, Wheein and Moonbyul’s KZbin content on their reapect channels. I have also wanted a handful of Studio Moon Night- Solar stuff, Hwasa comabck, Wheein comeback, purple kiss, WJSN, Mamamoo comeback, Dreamcatcher, her own comeback.

Something neither guide mentions is that Hwasa is the most comfortable showing a lot of skin. Moonbyul, on the other hand, is very conservative about showing skin, and regularly covers up Solar when she thinks Solar is revealing too much.

I have to make a correction to the guide, RBW didn't force Mamamoo to perform multiple times a day at festivals. Mamamoo decided they could handle it and doing this would help them build a bigger fan base and pay off their debt quicker.

'Mu' means radish in Korean so Moomoos use light sticks shaped like Korean radishes. It's true Moonbyul isn't "as good a vocalist" as Solar, Hwasa, or freakin' Wheein but... I mean come on. I've always compared Mamamoo in kpop to an All-Star team playing in the regular season. The funny part is Solar and Wheein are decent rappers too; when they do part switches people who haven't memorized the songs can't tell. The Christina Aguillera belt was from their debut song as well as the growl in Moonbyul's section. They've been like this from the beginning. A documentary about Solar and Wheein's rap sub-unit by the best kpop editor on KZbin kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIOpeJeAjrBnf9k.

Their light stick is a radish. The moo(무) in Mamamoo(마마무) stands for radish. Why, I have idea.

The radish came later. Apparently, the name is _supposed_ to sound almost like the ramblings of a baby ("mama", of course, is often a baby's first word), to kind of evoke and encourage an instinctual, rather than intellectual, connection with the music. Of course, as you say, 무 also, completely coincidentally, means "radish", and Moomoos kinda ran with the idea and it stuck.
