Loved your reaction! The meaning of the song In my eyes is that he misses the girl “Valerie” and although he misses her (a lot) he thinks she doesn’t miss him, because of this he acts like he doesn’t miss her/love her. He also mentions being with another girl but not having the same feelings and connection like he had with Valerie. Although he acts like he doesn’t miss Valerie, she knows but chooses not to. Hopefully that helps a little bit. Very emotional and sincere song despite being subjective to many meanings.
