I think the humour is brilliant. I interpret it like this - people on social media try to look rich and expensive and many post selfies of themselves drinking Starbucks all the time. But in reality, they aren't rich or special. So there is Tommy - telling us how ultra rich he is and shows his obsession over a coffee with a fancy name. Yet he pulls out an iphone 4...

I too was skeptical, then I went to watch all of his other music videos and it all made sense. I do not think this is a joke act, if anything we actually got a "watered-down" version of who Tommy Cash is lol

I loved this at first listen. That broken italian english made it more interesting. It remembers me of Liitle Big that also abuse of the absurdity. I also like Kulm, but Expresso Macchiato is my favourite by far.

Yes, it has this little big ingredience in, but its not the same quality. On the other hand I understand the buzz, especially in the community, which tends to such concepts

@ imo this is an "issue" of Eurovision fans vs. music fans. Eurovision fans look at the contest in compare, the rest as a music contest. I am more on the second part, that I want to see the best possible quality regardless the genre. As a proper competiton. Like I watch Champions league to see the best football.
@antonysantiago2874Ай бұрын
@@JanBors My main goal is to find artists of different countries. I understand your point, but I am afraid if the competition were the main goal of most artists. For instance, I dont like MelFest, because for me they look so overproduced with the same formula. I prefer something that looks authentic of each artist, even I didn't like.
@JanBorsАй бұрын
@ this for sure is important, authenticity. Imomthats the reason why Sweden is not winning every year as they are more visually focused and not all the time with absolute hits (who is), but as a tv professional, I love their contest as it just shows all the possibilities and creativity, perfectly made acts. Musically it depends, I prefer Sanremo for this as its musically top noch. Imo this is authentic probably, lets see live, but is that a real quality? This is what I doubt.

I feel like people got too comfortable naming every upbeat fun song "joke act"... what does that even mean? and 5Miinust&Puuluup was not a joke act, you just think that because you dont understand estonian language and the real meaning of the song
@JanBorsАй бұрын
musically and performance wise it was, this is also, including lyrics. That it has some deeper meening does not mean its made as a joke. I dont take this out of it. Its also like this - if you dont want to see it, you'll not and thats fine :)
@squirrelballs338726 күн бұрын
@@JanBors Im fine with you not liking the song but 5Miinust was not a "joke act", the only thing that remotely would point to it being one was maybe the dance but that also was not intended for that purpose. It was purely made to make the song more energetic not a joke... musically it for sure wasn't, it blended the traditional Estonian folk and newage vibe together to combine younger and older crowds. Finally the lyrics, if you did not research the song and artist about the meaning of them enough then what is even the point of mentioning it being a joke. Now for espresso macchiato you made the same flaw and did not look into who Tommy is and why he did what he did. No this song was not a joke. In summary: Tommy is quite a big art person, he often does stunts at fashion shows, music videos etc with visual shock. Due to that he decided to add his flare to this song by referencing Andy Warhol eating a hamburger (link to video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3TLkquiYp6jrMk). That video was a satire take on how America does nothing but eat burgers. In this song Tommy took the same outfit and jokingly makes a similar take on Italian stereotypes. Yes I agree that to some extent it may be insulting but it is not meant to be that. It is more about the respect to the art niches. As for the song itself I find it quite decent and tasteful, if he wanted to make a joke act he could of taken an absolute piss out of the beat but decided not to.

Tommy Cash je super a upřímně si nemyslím, že je to myšlený čistě jako joke act. On prostě dělá tyhle bizáry celou svoji kariéru a ten song je sakra chytlavej.

Honestly, I was waiting and dreading Cha Cha Cha 3.0 because even though I love the original, I'm already sick of it, but I'm pleasantly surprised. Of course, it's not as undisputed a winner with the audience as Cha-Cha-Cha, but if it goes, it might make the top 10, and I wouldn't mind it. But selections are famous for the fact that anything can happen, so we'll just wait

It will come down to the staging. If he can sing and stage it in a quirky way, people will buy this. He will already have the advantage as a significant name anyway that was hyped up. The song IS catchy but you have to listen to it multiple times

Calling 5Miinust x Puuluup (last years song) a joke act is shallow in my opinion, you clearly did not care to search up the lyrics and/or don't understand the meaning behind it + the dance is a traditional dance here in Estonia, it's not intended to be "funny". Besides, Eurovision has rarely ever been about "the best of the best". It has mostly always been about a) politics b) shock factor

it was a joke act, did it have a meaning? Yes, sure... but it was musically and staging-wise presented as a joke act. It was done well also.

@@JanBors The lad is stuck in the mindset of the 70s and 80s. Eurovision hasn't been a song contest for decades. It's a circus, a spectacle where "chicks with dicks" act out their inner fantasies, mixed with absurd stage shows and meaningless lyrics. Commenting on it as if it's some kind of musical event and evaluating the songs from a musical perspective is a complete waste of time.

I cant say Im a huge fan of any of the Eesti Laul Songs this year. I think if Tommy did go to Eurovision the only way this doesnt compete is though highly controversial circumstances (ie. Tommy withdraws, Tommy gets disqualified The votes get rigged, or some crazy set of circumstances that Im not thinking of) but barring anything crazy this will Qualify but It wont do well with the juries. If Estonia send Tommy they will probably get a similar result to last year. I can guarantee you now that "Espresso Macchiato" Win not win Eurovision 2025. The 2025 Eurovision winner will probably be someone like Nemo last year or like Loreen Last Year. For as long as juries are not in the Semi Finals the Juries will always decide the winner and the Televote wont have much of a say
