Hello from Germany. I am following this trio since I saw a report on them on German TV in 2017. This song gave me goosebumps, when I heard it for the first time. After my opinion, they are insanely talented. And their music is touching my heart in a special way - something that I missed in the last decades. I think VOB is something that the world just needs right now. Thank you for this nice reaction.

Hello Ryan and Cindy and welcome to Voice of Baceprot!! Robert has given you some of their background info and I'll add that their journey has not been an easy one, having faced backlash (including verbal and physical attacks) from Islamic hardliners at one point, as well as their parents not being on board at first at all (including locking them in/out of the house, etc). But they have persevered, honed their skills, and have now released an album and toured Europe (twice), US, UK, and Australia, becoming the first rock/metal band to reach the world stage while wearing/practicing hijab. All their songs have strong social critiques, with a particular emphasis on women's rights and safety!

pronunciation: the c makes a ch sound, so ba-che-prot (short a, short e, short o are the closest vowels in English) band members are Marsya (sy = sh, so it sounds like Marsha) guitar and vocal; Sitti drums; Widi bass. Back story - they're from a small farming town in rural Garut, West Java, from a relatively conservative part of the country (but not as conservative as Aceh). They were. . .less than ideal students in junior high and the band is a result of their counselor trying to find something constructive for them to do. Not reaction material, but: "Story Behind (VOB) Voice Of Baceprot [Nadia Yustina]" on the Revision Archives channel (revisionarchives5552) tells their story very well, mostly in their own voices (Bahasa Indonesia with English subtitles)

Cool reaction. It's pronounced Bah-che-prot. You might want to check out their lyric video for Mighty Island released a month ago and Rumah Tanah Tak Dijual released two weeks ago to hear where they are now.
