The kick to her sword definitely activated it. It slides out of the sheathe and it starts powering up before her hand even grasps the handle. It was pretty cool

I think too much is made about the shots and especially the physics. The shots are appealing and imo aren’t over the top. Same for the physics. The physics and animations are simply really good and not in a “gooner” type of way, but in a way that she feels so much more real as if her body is actually made of real human flesh and not some anti gravity water balloon lol.
