Thank you for understanding us in deep. We are not only "fans", our hearts are connected somehow to Nightwish. We are from all over the world, we are not awake all at the same time, we speak several languages, we didn't seen each other, but we have something in common, the Nightwish way of seeing, feeling and loving. And we are all happy you joined us :) All the best from RO.

The first time I heard this incredibly beautiful song I became an old softie... again, wiping an errant tear while choking back one soft gulp after another. Whenever I hear Marco sing, I just want to hear more of his enthralling voice and I can't help myself from listening to Nightwish everyday, as their sensitivity and musical excellence somehow buoys my spirit to fight off my somewhat recent selfish self pity over my fight with cancer, which has left me with looming realizations of lost days, mixed with many warm memories, as I ponder my ever-nearing and inevitable end. I can't even tell you how many time I've listened to Endlessness since hearing it during my daily quest for my Nightwish fix, because of it's suddenly more important message for me. I really enjoyed your poem too, Kelly, as it fit perfectly into the mood of this song. A beautiful poem. When I listen to this, I was thinking about my life. Am I regretted it, how I have lived? Live now, don't tomorrow and yesterday ... don't even think.
Your poem actually resembles something Tuomas might have written, and I think it is very fitting for this song! I never much liked the term "fan", as it is short for "fanatic". But having been in love with Tuomas' music and poetry for twenty years now, I truly rue the day Nightwish ends. I was genuinely worried when I heard the song "Alpenglow" for the first time, due to its possible double meaning! So I am really grateful for everything he produces at this point. But even though the band might disperse, Nightwish will never die. Because this music has touched millions of souls.
@KellyDeaconKDzJOY5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for taking a listen to the poem. As I began to understand the meaning behind While your Lips are Still Red, I realized it's about life in moments. Do and say while you still can...… and then it made me think of "Nor a Moment Missed" I wrote that back in 2011. I don't think the concept and lifeforce of Nightwish will die. It goes on. I realize also 'fan' isn't enough. It falls short of what this is really about.

@@KellyDeaconKDzJOY Yes. The intensity of young love. That boundary between childhood and adulthood. These are themes that often repeat in Tuomas' music. Specifically the loss of innocence. If you watch the Nightwish movie "Imaginaerum", it is perfectly demonstrated there. Both in beauty and tragedy. It is a full length feature film. The "Arabesque" scene is one of the best scenes I have seen in a movie! It is well worth a look! Hope you have a nice day 😊

This song was written for a Finnish film, Lieksa! by Toumas and Marco. The original video is a little different, and from it you get a hint of what the film is all about - make the most of today and the time you have. The addition of Troy's music and Floor's vocals really add that extra something to the song.

What a lovely reply Kelly! I too have had my problems: I am an amputee and had to have a duo-pancreas and kidney transplant in 2017. I care for my disabled wife, and every day has it's challenges. However...I have never allowed anything to get me down, and I begin every day with a smile. My love of music ranges from classical (I am a trained violinist) to 80's Electropop, folk, progressive rock and now symphonic metal. My journey to the NW world began when I saw the 'Amaranth' official video single with Anette last year. Like you, I had no idea as to the history or the politics surrounding the lead singer. To me, it is a nonsense, because everything has it's position in time, and Tuomas writes for each singers' vocal abilities. I simply enjoy the music for it's own sake, and through it, I am meeting other people in the world, I NEVER would have spoken to! I live in a rural part of England called Wiltshire, and am only 40 miles from Stonehenge. Big hug. Kevin

Nice reaction, as usual. You're very gentle, using nice words, not cursing or things like that, that's good. I think there must be something special with this band, like a spell. You need to listen to the right song and get caught in that spell. Many people get hooked with Ghost Love Score, but perhaps others need some kind of Romaticide style of song to fall in love with their music. In my opinion, it's a mix of the music and the lyrics. They never sing stupid songs, they always have a meaning and lately, the meanings has became very complex. Like The Greatest Show on Earth. I had to read and make some research to understand certain concepts behind that song. And that is great for our general knowledge of the world and nature. It seems that Finnish people are very in touch with nature. They love natural landscapes, the forests and everything like that. Tuomas finds inspiration composing the songs in a cottage in the forest, surrounded by snow and I imagine, inside his head, he imagines elves and trolls, dancing to some kind of ancient folk song. I bet that many of the people here, whos loves Nightwish, have many other things in common, like movies, other music we listen to, I bet we all love nature and try to be as carefull as we can not to harm it. Maybe wrong, but in general I think it's true. Finally, I think you have to react to Marco's new singe, from his new and firs solo album. The song is called Isäni Ääni, that means " The voice of my father". Try to have the lyrics in english, because he sings it in finnish, which is a plus in my opinion. You'll love it. Thanks.

Tuomas has said in another interview that Nightwish would end of Floor should decide to leave, because the band would not be able to take a change of lead vocalist a third time.
@KellyDeaconKDzJOY5 жыл бұрын
wow, at the time he must have felt confidence that Floor would be the next lead. Therefore comfortable in it's continuance. It's my opinion, as I'm learning more about this, that if Tuomas has these lyrics in his head, he'll find a way to keep it coming.
@Immortall14085 жыл бұрын
I don´t think she will leave in a hurry, if ever. Not when her daughter is growing up, at least, I would say. And she can still work on smaller side projects. She will be in some Dutch TV competion during this summer. :-)
@oliphant28485 жыл бұрын
@@Immortall1408 No, she has no reason to leave in the foreseeable future because everything seems to be working very well at the moment. And I agree, let's not forget that a) Nightwish must have been a huge financial break for her and b) she has a daughter, a horse, a dog, a huge old farmstead in Sweden to support. Rational behavior would dictate to not leave in a huff. And if there is one person on this planet that strikes me as utterly rational and competent, it's Floor.
@kirsinapola99395 жыл бұрын
When Tuomas is writing music he takes into account who is singing it. Is there any other band where Floor could use all her singing styles? And Nightwish does not stop her doing her own private projects. All the band members have their own things. As said here Nightwish is doing really well financially. Nightwish is respected as a company in a Finnish business world. So I think we can wait in peace more music from Nightwish. They can afford to do music they want to do which is the music we love.

Hi Kelly! New subscriber here. I'm so happy to hear that you really wanted to know more about the history of Nightwish. They really evolved throughout the years. Have you ever considered listening to the songs sung by the previous singers? I really hope you would listen to "The Phantom of the opera" by Tarja to get a taste of of their more operatic phase. Annette is the singer who replaced Tarja after she was fired by the band through an open letter. She definitely had a more poppy voice and not as good live, but the Imaginaerum album is one of my favourite written by Tuomas. Rest Calm or Slow Love Slow would be a good song to showcase the Annette phase of Nightwish. Can't wait to see what you react to next! Greetings from Malaysia

Nightwish is a gestalt. Gestalt psychology is an attempt to understand the laws behind the ability to acquire and maintain meaningful perceptions in an apparently chaotic world. The central principle of gestalt psychology is that the mind forms a global whole with self-organizing tendencies through the law of prägnanz. The whole is different from (and more than) the sum of its parts. The word pragnanz is a German term meaning "good figure." The law of Pragnanz is sometimes referred to as the law of good figure or the law of simplicity. This law holds that objects in the environment are seen in a way that makes them appear as simple as possible. "Appearances can be deceiving"!!!

Maybe looking once older stuff from them? From End of the Era, 2005, Phantom of the Opera. Then you could hear the first vocalist Tarja (and Marco). Or continue with Floor and Marco with Ghost River (from Wacken 2013). In both, Marco is awesome. Or maybe Pink Floyd cover High Hopes from 2005 End of the Era. Again Marco shines in that song (or actually whole band shines...). Those are few Nightwish songs where you can get idea Marco´s vocal ability.

i know that you are going through a nightwish binge and most folks are pointing you to the live stuff, mostly with floor. there is one studio track off 'dark passion play that i think you might like - "meadows of heaven." dpp is a concept album in a way, and lots of revolves tragic unexpected passing. a gem of a song with gospel like accompaniment. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKnWm6lsgdmFsJI

Hi Doug. My plan is to introduce to myself a few of the other bands suggested by people, so I can learn more about the genre. In fact, my plan was to bring one to video yet this weekend. I have copied the URL and your suggestion on my spreadsheet, I'm attempting to record requests. LOL.... it seems to be working better in keeping track of songs and people who suggested them

Doug a great selection and so is The Crow, the Owl and the Dove (kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6HXaZKqhb58opI) with Marco to also enjoy. She may like the other great sound by Annette from Slow,Love,Slow (kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmfPZXtsbZ55qq8) Gothic jazz which Annette really nailed.

Nightwish can ultimately be translated into movie score metal (think Hans Zimmer specifically gladiator featuring Lisa Gerrard, Crimson tide and the last samurai) Tuomas is a big fan of his. The song in question is the theme from Lieska (translated as the matriarch) it’s a Swedish film that came out in 2007 the same time as this song (obviously) and is part of the Amaranth single Phantom of the Opera with Tarja (tar-yah) Turunen the original vocalist (1996-2005) (End of an era concert) High hopes (Pink Floyd cover) (End of an era concert) Marco does an awesome job with this 🤘🤘🤘🤘

Small but important correction: It's Lieksa (not Lieska). And it's not a Swedish movie, but Finnish. Lieksa is a small town in North-Karelian, eastern Finland, only 2 hours driving up north from Tuomas's hometown Kitee. Yes, this song was used in Lieksa! movie in the beginning and in the end and was asked by Tuomas's film maker friend, Markku Pölönen. Rest of the movie scores was made by Vesa Mäkinen.

Tuomas IS Nightwish and Nightwish IS Tuomas. As he wrote in the firing letter to Tarja "Nightwish is the scenery of my soul..." and he was not going to end it just because they had to get rid of a singer who didn't write a note of the music.

Once again an in-depth reaction to one of my all time favorite band's. In case you're interested, here you can download "Once upon a Nightwish: The Official Biography 1996-2006" in PDF-format for free 93.174.95.29/_ads/F3B2079C8FD0E047FF17281BF7B17755 There's also this documentary of the time Floor first joined them on stage in 2012 "NIGHTWISH -"PLEASE LEARN THE SETLIST IN 48 HOURS" kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJmoqZ6jjLCAe7c with English subtitles. And finally this 2003 documentary with English subtitles as closed captions (CC): "End Of Innocence - Nightwish with English subtitles" kzbin.info/www/bejne/onO3k6WVZrJ4qJo if you can take some juvenile humor of sorts occasionally. P.S. Thanks for the lovely poem.

If you like Marco's Singing you really should look for band Tarot and dvd called Live undead indeed. Song from there could be "Tides" it is Marcos previous own band before joining Nightwish. :) they have alot of good music aswell.

Since you interested in poetry might wanna listen to Song Of Myself studio version (with lyrics) as it has a spoken word part they don’t do live but really is an emotional journey itself not to mention the song what is inspired by a Walt Whitman poem by the same title.

Wow what an introduction, one that Tuomas would really enjoy I assure you!!! If you want to know more there are various interviews but the real documentary is about how Floor ended up becoming the 3rd lead vocalist and actually learned a set list of 15 songs in 48 hours when she was called at her sister's wedding to jump on a plane and join the tour in Seattle, Wash (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJmoqZ6jjLCAe7c) There is also a great speech by Floor some years later where she thanks the fans in Seattle for the reception she got that night (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJnZla2XiLKFrLM) a short video that shows you the humble and wonderful Floor as nothing else and why everyone loves her!! What a great song and Marco really nailed this one with Floor as a bit of a harmonizing backup singer, but Troy with that wailing hypnotic guitar really set the mood for the song to really hit home which it clearly did with you. Great reaction and BTW also a great poem, lesson to learn seize each moment or it will become one more regret you carry on this wonderful journey we are on.

Here in Finland we have metal festival called Tuska(roughly translated "Agony" or"Pain") and it is most safe festival... Because every year only 0 to 1 times they need cops in the area... Think about that...

That says a lot. It means people are joining together in the spirit of the festival..... thanks for sharing.

There is a song called Tuska20 for the festivals 20anniversary..you should check out the video... Only one problem.. It is in finnish language, so you don't understand it... But in the comments, there are explanation for wich songs are used in the song

King crimson’s Robert fripp has said that the band will go on forever but he has been the only constant band member over 50 years. I think they are alluding to the spirit of the band that drives it. However, in both cases I think that king crimson and nightwish will not continue if they lose either one.
@KellyDeaconKDzJOY5 жыл бұрын
Doug, I totally got the same feeling, yes, I think they are speaking about the spirit and what drives it.

bg straddles power metal and symphonic metal. there really isn't much of the grandiosity in the german scene like the benelux and scandinavia. but bg has its moments where it much like the italian project, rhapsody/rhapsody of fire, where the album has a story, characters and spoken parts. heck, christopher lee did voice over work for them. i don't care for the black metal stuff primarily out of norway, bad history from bad people in that scene.
