This was very cool. Right before you paused to talk about liking the spectacle, I was thinking I could see why a young Fabian and he would be sympatico as performers. Loved the lyrics and the guitar riffs. It dawns on me that with another vocalist, it could have _easily_ fallen flat, heavy and lifeless. But he had a real dynamic bounce in his vocal power. Glad to have discovered this. Thanks!

*Jeff* Hello, I don't know if you paid attention at 7:35 on *"pour que j'aime les gens" (for that I love folks) to the way he pronounces *"les gens"* at the end of the sentence. Lara Fabian uses almost the same voice tone in *"Je suis malade"* when she says: *"Tu pars, on ne sait jamais où"* (You goes, we never know where) with mouth and chin very forward to pronounce the last word of the sentence. It's very theatrical, just this way of expressing almost exactly as you'd face someone, but here it's in a song. It confirms what you said at the beginning about what characterizes the pop song. So I propose here a translation of the song I also offered a few weeks ago on the Lyrics Translate website: *The desire* *May darkness be given to me, and then, the light* *That I'm given hunger, thirst, then a feast* *That be taken away from me what's vain, secondary* *That I refind the price of life, finally* *That I'm given the pain so that I like to sleep* *That I'm given the cold so that I love the flame* *For me to love my land, That I'm given exile* *For a year, lock me up to dream of some women* *I was given too much, long before the desire* *I forgot the dreams and every thanks* *All those things that had a price* *That make want to live and the desire* *Of course, the fun too* *That I'm given the desire* *The desire to desire* *And that we light up my life* *That I'm given the hate so that I love the love* *Loneliness also, so I could love people* *For I love the silence, tell me some speeches* *And touch the misery to respect the money* *For I like to be healthy, overcome disease* *That I'm given the night that I love the day* *That I'm given the day to love the night* *To love today forget the "always".* *I was given too much, long before the desire* *I forgot the dreams and every thanks* *All those things that had a price* *That make want to live and the desire* *Of course, the fun too* That I'm given the desire *The desire to desire* *And that we relight up my life* Goes in peace, folks! 🤗

L'envie is the desire to feel alive... Just the driving force of life, or the life instinct. This must not be understood here as "envy" or "jealousy". "Qu'on me donne l'envie...!" Let the desire to live be given to me.

this song were writed in 1986 so it's absolutly not pop like today song but i understand what you to say and i agree. it's a little like pop music, and rap music, like "soprano", french singer, i sings rap and it's like "l'envie" when he sings for example in the song "mon everest", my everest. go listen it
