Great reaction! Elvis can be the king of rock & roll, MJ can be the king of pop, Aretha can be the queen of soul .... but Prince is and always will be The God of Music ... O(+> 4ever

Prince just did his thing. A unique sounding song for the time and it really does encapsulate that time so well. The fact it is stripped back to make you stand up and listen what he is saying... like "why are these things happening ?" Kind of a passive aggressive funk crossover lol. It makes you think, it makes you move. Defo a top 5 Prince song for me.

This was recorded shortly after Prince got his first Emulator sampling keyboard and used it for this song with sounds that came preloaded. Nobody uses the stock sounds. I'm guessing he did that for a bet. I remember watching this SoTT video in 1987 and thinking it was super hi-tech. For those who don't know, Prince didn't spend huge sums of money on videos because they are promotional tools and he wanted the music to sell itself rather than some fancy visuals (trickery) selling the music. There is an instrumental version of this song during the end credits of the SoTT movie. Well worth a listen IMO.

Originally Prince wanted a 3-4 album package, but record executives found it to be too risky. So, all settled for a 2-album package release. Prince had been well known for having TONS of material he wanted to get out.

This is an edited version. The full version on the album is over a minute longer and has some guitar in it at the end. Oh and you really need to watch the Sign o’ the Times movie.

For your next video can you please do 2pac’s 1995 classic album called me against the world because hitting the shelves while he was still in prison, the album helped shift his image from that of gangsta rapper to more of a gangsta poet, setting the stage for 2pac to become one of the most famous mcs in the world.

This sounds like an updated version of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" from the very early 70s. Just sounding an alarm in uncertain times.

Back in the day, I thought Prince was too "sexual" for my young mind. This song converted me. Rumor has it that Prince wrote this song after reading newspaper of a particular day. Wonder what day it was. 😹

Prince was an innovator of music. Great song, funky but chilled lol if that is a thing? Terance Trent D'arby was said to be a mixture of Prince and Michael Jackson, I went to a Terance Trent D'arby concert back in 1988 he was amazing, Dance moves of MJ and songs that could of been written by Prince but Terence had a better voice than Prince and MJ in my oppinion, Soulful with gritty rasp, Dance little sister is one of my favourites.

I'm a fan of Maitreya, big fan! But Prince was and is the measuring stick! Prince pop ear was first rate, but the the r&b, rock, jazz, ear was just as great,and being a rock guitar God, you understand Prince was Prince and the rest was second place. The former Terence Trent Darby now Sananda Maitreya never had a long career enough to compare to the big boys. He's had a couple decent follow ups to the hardline but nothing groundbreaking as his first, heck he'd be the first to tell you Prince was God like in music 🎶, Maitreya is great, Jackson was a good lip syncer dancer ( did the same 5 moves constantly) definitely not a musician.
@reactionextraction2 жыл бұрын
T.T. Darby is great example of 80's modern funk / soul music with a Fab raspy voice 😎 "Wising Well" alone is a classic. Hot Opinion however putting Terence above Prince & MJ, hmm. I don't know about that 😳
@Barzo72 жыл бұрын
@@reactionextraction T.T. D'arby had a shot career in the spot light. I think he had lots of issues with his private life and his record company which ment he dropped out of the limelight, He changed his name Sananda Maitreya and went to live in France or Germany. But for me he had a better vioce than MJ and Prince and if his life wasn't so messed up he may of gone on to have a huge career. Plus i did see him perform live and he was AMAZING! Thanks lads
