Yes it's an original. She writes all of her songs, arranges them and produces them too. She wrote (tears of gold - You don't even know me - how it all works out - hero - puppet - Elon - exothermic - rip love and the list is long)So it's safe to say every video clip you've seen and every lyric video or a stripped performance of her, know that it's her words. She even co wrote her song with John Legend; Minefields. She actually won the international songwriting competition, the largest songwriting competition in the world. She's the first Canadian to win that prize in the competition's history beating 16000 other entries from 137 countries. So I guess that says a lot about her writing skills. Add to that she doesn't just write song lyrics but poems too.
