Reactivate prime solves my biggest irrational peeve for any modern Optimus, rotating the waist for the transformation. The way they managed the legs was cool too, and he just is cool. All he needed is fingers to actually hold the matrix with, or sculpted open hands.

The Reactivate game will be killer, the sickest thing since FOC! This Optimus looks so sick, the post-apocalyptic look really makes him look like a more hardened survivor and leader. Soundwave looks a little thin to me but still cool. Can’t wait for the game!

honestly this is like the one optimus design that justifies a nemesis repaint in my eyes it always looks ridiculous on the other molds because his silhouette is just so heroic that red and black can't make it look evil but here it makes perfect sense the guy already looks like if bay's version of prime ripped off even more faces and also loved to crush people under his wheels in alt mode so making it a bad guy definitely tracks

I’ve been kind of surprised with the amount of work that’s been put into these Reactivate figures, especially since the game isn’t even out yet. For the Optimus Prime, he is definitely the largest voyager Optimus we’ve gotten in a while. And other than a few minor design details I have an issue with (such as I think his eyes should have been bigger), this figure and the SS 102 have easily become my top 2 favorite Hasbro-made Optimus figures that I own (Yes, I finally got the official SS 102; I had a gift card from Christmas and found some copies of him being sold around $50, so I took my chance). If I had to compare the two of them I’d say they’re kind of tied in terms of posability, with each of them having an aspect of articulation that the other lacks (ex: 102 having better feet movement and a technical ab-crunch while Reactivate has better shoulder movement with more range in how far back his legs can move). Reactivate has the overall better truck mode and leg transformation, with the 102 having the better upper body/truck cab transformation (the clearance issues on the Reactivate transformation are really not that fun). In terms of plastic quality, they’re both pretty good, though I do prefer the feel of the 102’s plastic a bit more. Reactivate ultimately has the better accessories (while I like the sword 102 comes with his hand gun really is a dinky little thing). And then I’m a little tied on their robot modes since I like both of them. Overall, getting this two pack and the SS 102 has been a great start to 2024 for me.

I’m happy these 2 came together since I have 2 shelves dedicated to Optimus and Soundwave Also I have a pretty cool theory for the game that also might explain why these 2 were put together I think Soundwave is going to be leading the Decepticons at the start and Megatron will show up later in the story, either he’s being controlled by the Quintessons and you have to fight him to put him back to normal, or he’s not even on earth and he’ll surprise the player when they least expect it, during a mission where it looks like the characters are going to lose (Also going to my first convention this year, I’ll be at TF Nation)

Ben Custom Toys gave a really cool paint job to this soundwave a month or so ago, making what at first looks like a disproportionate figure feel like an awesome, deliberately stylized piece straight out of Nick Roche's sketchbook. Really shows that there's a truly badass design somewhere in the toy. As for Prime, I too love how hench he looks. I don't even mind the super busy faceplace, and usually I prefer my primes to have more simplistic masks, lest they start looking like cartoonish beaks. I only wish his toes were a little less pointy, as that probably makes putting him in running poses a bit of a hussle. WFC was really good about giving most of its toys this nice wide and fat toes to balance on top of even when they had cheaped out on the ankle pivots. Otherwise, this is one of my favorite geewunnish Primes next to Siege and Volvo.

So what did you do to customize him? I don't find the Faceplate Super Busy here, I just don't like the way it's rounded in the cheeks. It should be a more mechanical shape. Yeah I'm always a fan of square feet.

I've yet to do a lot witht he reactivate figures I've gotten, though I do intend on painting Prime's greys a nice silver or gunmetal grey. Oh yeah, I see what you mean with the mask being a little roundish. Usually it prefer it more squarish myself, but somehow it works really nice here. Reminds me a little bit of the headsculpt of PoTP Nemesis Prime, who looks like he's sporting the world's most shit eating, sadistic grin under his faceplate.

The fact these 2 sets are 2 years old is insane. Soundwave is probably my favourite of the two? It works for me so well, it’s become my display Soundwave. Optimus took so long to grow on me. It was so tight and some of the panels were so sharp out of the box it actually cut my finger during transformation. I just had to work the joints and now he’s really good, but he’s not my favourite Prime of the last few years like he is for most people. I do definitely prefer the Bee and Screamer pack for sure though.

I did fix my Optimus’s blaster peg. I cut off my spare Siege Prime’s axe storage peg and Gorilla Glued it onto the blaster’s peg and it’s now working a dream. If anyone tried this, let the glue dry for at least three days and BE CAREFUL when putting it in and taking it out of Prime’s hands

The 2 pack looks great! The only 2 nitpicks I have not mentioned here, perhaps because you don’t share my feelings about these VERY minor nitpicks, or I suppose one: this semi nitpick is that there’s a radar dish which I believe was supposed to be Laserbeak, doesn’t transform because of the size and price point, but it would have been nice. The real nitpick I have, which again, you might not share feelings of, but hear me out, the shin vents are on top of the truck bed, which is what I’ve seen almost every Optimus toy. These vents on the original Diaclone toy is supposed to be below the truck bed.

An interesting point about the shin vents, though I can't say I'm too broken up about it since it's on like EVERY version of him. Though yeah it is funny that they are on most of them. Some of the only ones to not do that are the new Magic Square versions. And yeah a Soundwave doesn't feel complete without a Laser Beak.

3:20 at least this version of Optimus Prime not only look better than even the Bumblebee movie and Rise of the Beast Optimus Prime, but you can even mix him in with your action toys and he will actually look good with them

Prime looks… ok, I honestly don’t care for prime, he looks cool and all but I’m wanting more form it, a different vehicle truck or different type of color scheme, like, say what you want about the movie designs but I like them because they want to look different and unique. Idk I hoped we’d get more than just a badass g1 looking dude

I mean it sounds like you just want him to be a conventional lay out truck? Unless you are talking about how the robot mode just barely looks like Optimus Prime, so yes it would be extremely different.

It's even worse when Titan Class like Tidal Wave is like over 3000 sek (around 300 dollars), or Deluxe class is priced at 40 bucks, Voyager is 60 bucks and leader class is like 80 to 90 bucks (no joke). And for something that's for 8+, it's unacceptable which makes me not pay these Hasbro products anymore for that reason (plus that most of their products, not all, feel like knockoffs than actual ko).

This Prime has what the ROTB version was lacking. Soundwave is also a cool reimagining. The Achilles heel of the big figures from the multi-packs to me are the faces, but otherwise are not as bad as sad cat Starscream or Chin-Mouthed Optimus from the Bay films. Also, I now have most of the currently released 86 Dinobots except for Slag.
