Alice’s publisher sued KISS and it was settled out of court. Alice loves the guys in KISS and had no part in it, although he collected a check obviously.

@@iltourcinico are you on crack? Kiss influenced millions of people to start bands. Look at most of the 80s bands that followed kiss, poison. Bon jovi , motley crue, anthrax, etc etc all were influenced by kiss with their music and stage shows. Kiss in 77 78 79 were a phenom !

It was Alice's management that attempted to sue, but it was settled out of court. Regarding the songs; the chorus chord progression is identical. Also, the rhythm, phrasing etc. They way it comes down to verse is very similar, again with similar chord progression, arpeggios on guitar and build up to the chorus. Even the vocal melody is similar. It sounds like it was intentionally emulated to me, but not as good as Alice. In general, Alice Cooper's music and lyrics are leagues above KISS...far more sophisticated, so it's sacrilege to even mention them in the same context. They are to Cooper what painting by numbers is to Dali.

The little opening riff is similar, but as a whole, I don't see much a resemblance. 18 is 118x a better song though. Couldn't the same claim be made for Without You by Dokken? It's just standard rock.. Incidentally this song reminds me of Lynch Mob meets Def Leppard than Alice Cooper

Yes, there is similarity, in the riff and in the vocals. KISS is my favorite band, but 18 is way better than this song.

Kiss ripped off The Alice Cooper Group and the song Eighteen from the 1970 Love It To Death album.Kiss formed in 1973 and has tried to copycat Alice Cooper ever since and their makeup.was Alice Cooper's suggestion. Kiss was no rival to The Alice Cooper Group or Alice Cooper himself, the Father of Shock Rock and Theatrical Rock. It is obvious that Kiss fans are gonna side with them but remember they ripped off from Eighteen long after it was an Iconic and Forever Smash Hit for The Alice Cooper Group.
