Yeah you either can't lift it or you can't. He accidentally shifted it when taking hold before the fake attempt. Thor would have figured it out, unlike what people were claiming at the time. (edit for clarification)

Yes Ragnarok taught him that he’s more than the God of Hammers, so he stops tying his self worth to his ability to lift Mjolnir.

Cap could have lifted Mjolner and chose not to. He understood what was happening and knew god level power was his if he wanted, and he still chose to pretend he couldn’t. That’s cap.

According to the writer (Whedon), Cap had the capability to lift the hammer, but he believed he couldn't. So he defeated himself. Not some odd belief that he didn't want to wield a god's power or anything.

Idk, part of me feels like it’s the fact that Cap hides the secret of knowing who killed Tony’s parents, Bucky, that prevented him from picking up the hammer.

Steve was always worthy (I knew that before Endgame) If you listen to the AoU commentary with Whedon he said something along the lines of :”Steve knows that he’s worthy here, it’s just out of respect for Odinson he doesn’t want to embarrass him.”

One of the Russo brothers revealed in an interview after Endgame that Cap always could lift Mjolnir. When he realized he could, he didn’t wanna show everyone, so he pretended to not lift it in this scene. Despite the dark secret he kept from Tony and everyone.

Fana like to theorize cause cap was hiding the truth about Tony is why he couldn't lift it......which is dumb 😂 It aucks to say this......but Tony's parenta death in the grand scheme of the mcu.....is miniscule.the hammer isn't gonna hold you back form one,let's be real,well meaning lie Also,the hammer says to be worthy...not perfect

I'm pretty sure Thor knew that Cap could lift the hammer but chose not to, because anyone not worthy shouldn't even be able to "nudge" it. So in End Game it was joy he felt and yelled out "I knew it!" when Cap used Mjolnir. Which also leads to another mystery, Hela destroying Mjolnir. Maybe it was Odin's death that weakened the Hammer but if that erased any enchantment....then ANYONE should be able to wield Mjolnir. I mean an Elevator (IYKUK) can't be the only thing that's worthy (and Vision) 🙂

in endgame, the hammer was brought along with the stone from the other timeline, so the enchantment would still be active on it as Odin hadnt died yet

You are either worthy or you are not! You can either lift it or you can’t! If you are not worthy and can’t lift it, then you will not be able to budge it even 1 inch. Therefore, the fact that cap made it move at all means that he was worthy and holding back.

Love how the "clues" were always there for Cap, but most people missed it due to having other things happening at the time. Cap's 1st attempt was more or less Cap not wanting to "show up" anyone else, and therefor not a "real effort". (Which is a NICE theory, and one that I can agree with.... but not entirely). But it is was when VISION picked it up and everyone reacted.... Cap was looking AT THOR to judge his reaction and see how he would respond to someone else picking up the hammer. Which is why, later on, Cap's ability to use the hammer just fits the situation better. I mean, he doesn't do it to "show off" (which makes him worthy in general) but he also makes sure that Thor wouldn't become angry about it (again making him worthy) as well as doing it in time to help others..... again something that would make him worthy.

@@hulkslayer626 The Russo Brothers themselves said in an interview that Cap could lift it the whole time but chose not to. The thing about the civil war secret has nothing to do with it, and it wasn't like Cap knew that it was Bucky who killed Tony's parents, he just knew that Tony's parents were killed by Hydra from the footage revealed to him by computer Ernim Zola in the Winter Soldier(2014).

@@DamianHowardTV For the record, that's not my hypothesis, it's from the writer of Cap 1,2,3 Infinity war and Endgame. Chrisopher Markus. The Russos and Whedon said it's about him not wanting to bruise Thor's ego. So it's not "Tony fanboys", which is a shitty argument in and of itself. Who cares who said it if it's valid?

@@mykillmetal1814 No, the point I’m trying to make is that most of the dumb arguments are coming from Tony/Iron Man fanboys, claiming that the only reason Cap became worthy and was able to lift/use the hammer, was because of this “bug secret about Tony’s parents”, which in actual fact that argument is null and void and had nothing to do with it.

Nope. It’s nothing to do with Bucky or Tony. Nothing at all. This is just Tony Stark/Iron Man fanboys trying to give Tony a sense of involvement in who or what Mjolnir’s enchantment deems as worthy. You’re not a little bit worthy or nearly worthy. You’re either worthy or you’re not. If you’re not worthy, the hammer won’t budge or move at all. I can’t believe that there’s still so many that don’t understand this.
