It’s not supposed to be a hype party song tbh. It needed the darkness and the fatigue within to fit the lyrics and show the struggle.. the cool part of the song is how they play with the synths. And the lyrics needed to be heard clearly because the message is really more important to them than to go hard. That’s why they even stripped it all down for the rap parts instead of pumping up the bass.

B.A.P usually uses the composition itself to highlight their theme of the song so i looked up the meaning behind the lyrics and i think the song is not supposed to "drop". Because "hands up" means "to reach the sky, reach for your dreams" kind of thing as opposed to the surrender type in what it kinda looks like in the MV. There's no "heavy drop" cause they're telling you not to "drop" or in this case "surrender". The song kinda gives you a "floaty" feel where you're not supposed to go down and keep reaching up and up. It's kinda opposite to SKYDIVE where the beat drops heavily on "skydive" where it gives the meaning even more pronounced because it gives you a sense of falling. One of your reactors commented about this as well to the previous viceo. Just sharing my thoughts :)

After I got used to it not having a drop like I expected, I actually really love the way that this song progresses. It reminds me a lot more of the build and progressions of rock anthems as opposed to kpop, and I like that. B.A.P has a lot of songs that fit that "extreme banger" structure, so hearing something that instead focuses on maintaining an intensity without the same release is interesting. To me, the stability and consistency that that intensity gives highlights the subject matter of the song, which is to never waver or stop reaching for your goals, no matter what stands in your way. It puts me in mind more of Linkin Park or Fall Out Boy, who have songs that continually build and support, and communicate the strength of their message in that manner. I will also say, the layered bassline in this is also about 100 times better when you have a subwoofer in your audio system. The strength of the boom adds a lot of depth to the sound that I couldn't hear adequately until I played the song through my car speakers. Anywho, thanks for taking the time to react to this. As a fellow musician/having studied music theory for several years, I would suggest you check out Moondance, which is a B side from this single album. Lots of unexpected and interesting things happening there with regards to key and chord progressions. I would tell you more, but I don't want to spoil the surprise if you check it out!

Not trying to sound rude but I'm tired of every single reactor to expect a drop. Not every single song has a drop, you jut find it in most songs these days because apparently it's "trendy" but B.A.P don't follow trends. They follow their own colour. This is B.A.P's style!

I think you need to read the lyrics with the song. Because for me the way the song progressed paired with the lyrics made such a big impact on me. B.A.P are just so good at this genre and they have so much substance to their music so lyrics are key for them I think. So it could be that just the way the song progressed in itself wasn't much of a 'banger', but i think paired with the lyrics it was 100% a banger.

I think that there isn't a real/clear 'drop' makes the song special. B.A.P always stands for breaking prejudice/revolution/etc. and the music represents just that. The song itself considering the lyrics stands for breaking away from prejudices and I think one could interpret this different kind of drop, which maybe is unusual to listen to for some people, as just that: breaking away from the standard and from prejudices and doing something different, which one might not expect. When listening to B.A.P songs it's useful to know the message behind it as well in order to fully understand/comprehend it ^^. BUT this is only my interpretation so the actual meaning could be different. And of course I don't mean to offend you :') I love your reactions, this is just my thought.

@simranfarrukh8945 6 жыл бұрын
The reason the song seems like it's constantly building up but not leading to anything is that it's like the start of a revolution. If you read the lyrics, it's like an invitation to join forces. It's not a declaration of war but more like joining a movement. That's why it's constantly building up but never climaxes. So you can feel the energy surging in through you but never let go of it completely. To give you the feeling of that constant buzz.

this is a blessing. and a pleasant surprise. I'm soooo thankful for your honest and polite comments, and in hindsight I do admit that it's kinda empty for a B.A.P song, but when I first listened to it, it was just calling out to me, demanding me to MOVE (I ended up learning its choreography vavavabj I haven't tried to learn one since EXO's Growl). And it has a really inspiring feel to it-- which is exactly the message of the song because it's about chasing your dreams and believing you can achieve them. Anw, can I request that you react to Think Hole? It's in the same album as Hands Up; I'd really like to know what you guys think about it since B.A.P's non-title tracks don't usually get attention. Plusss I really love the rap in this one (hOLY PETUNIA ZELO'S VOICE AGH) and it's my favorite in the album

Thank you for the BAP reaction. I love what you guys do. I find BAP interesting, they really try to be creative with their work. They are quite a unique band. They need to fully own the hip-hop/ neo-Rock strong elements of their music. That is their strength. They are really engaging even in their flaws. There is room for growth, and I am looking forward to seeing their evolution.

This song when it firsr released i felt the same way i was like its still building. I counted the beats like time signature and I'd count it but it legit felt like I was in orchestra class like it ah omg Its still a good song its really good but i feel like I had to throw away my counting and forget the time signature and the notes so I can relax while listening to the song. Like sometimes my friends play songs and there all in 4/4 or cut time and I legit wanna scream and change it lol B.A.P never fails to make am amazing somg and I feel like when Bang Yongguk wrote Hands Up he wanted to mess with us musicians but hes a genius honestly. He never disappoints

I've been streaming this video since the day it dropped. I'm so happy that you guys decided to react to it and true to form, you guys are so truthful with your comments. I also expected a harder hitting song from BAP but I love that this far into the game they're still able to surprise. It is such a BIG thing for them to do so many "ANTI-DROPS" in one song. I mean, just when you think the shits about to hit the fan, it doesn't. It was kind of disappointing (at first). But now, I do love it even more. That being said, I'm hoping some remixers out there can hear the cry of the people and remix thissssssss. Thank you again for the support. I agree with you tho. I LOVE the song. But when I heard it for the first time I expected a drop. Not just a drop but A drop. Like my body and my mind were ready for it lmao.

I know I will be hanged for this but let's get objective, this song is boring. I know they are the mythological BAP but hey: anyone can make a mistake sometimes. I feel that the song doesn't go anywhere, doesn't bring any satisfaction listening it. It lacks that explosive sensation you usually got when the chorus come, it's just a flat line. sorry guys ;)

That’s what I said too - “this is it?” I love BAP, I’ve been a baby since they debuted, and the rest of the song is great... but the chorus disappointed me :/

When I first saw the MV I felt like the song was a bit to "empty" during the chorus. Like I expected something to be there that wasn't. I kinda know what now that you've talked about it.

Can you please react to B.A.P - dystopia. It was a side track released with 'wake me up'. It doesn't have a mv but it's a interesting song and has a rock vibe. So just want to watch your opinion on it. Thank you
