Nice video! So, in that ecu was possible to pull the whole flash via tricore? I thought that you can do that only bdm style. Is good you pull the eeprom and the flash, but was t better to have that compressed-encrypted full backup what ktag do also? If on the way back of writing something goes wrong or put wrong software, ktag will allow you to write only the encrypted one because the lost identification numbers. Is it the same programming for all EDC17? I need kia's crd engine bosch edc 17 ecu fully cloned and suspect will be same. Does it need again that boot pin wire soldered in case of bdm used or will be just fine to be that tricore style? Thanks

from backup i have two flash files and eeprom. Can the flash be copied from another driver if I suspect that it is damaged? Are the files closely related? Immo, VIN, is only found in eeprom?

No. Better if you have not only separate files but also one full backup.If you use K-tag, choose full backup option and at the end it will ask you do you wish separate files also.Click yes if need them. In that scenario, you'll get lets say: 2mb flash(maps,settings,car vin,..) , 500kb eeprom(setting,partial immo settings) and in some cases 500-800kb(if remember) processor software. And also about 500-900kb encrypted, archived backup. If you put wrong or bad software only that full encrypted backup will save your ass

No... no need to touch the gearbox... Unless you go really high on power.. stage 1 you will be just fine...

hi in the menu of ktag you have 3 choice, from "edc17c10 PSA " plug in 219- bosch edc17 C10 IROM Tp1797 and 319 - edc17 irom cp42 tp1797 both have tp1797 processor but different plugin how do you decide which one to select? thanks

They all have the same processor, but the suffix is different... The first one you mentioned, is obviously for a C10, the second one for a CP42... You just need to know which ecu you are working with... 👍👍👍

Depends what is failed on the ecu... If is a corrupted flash, you can try to find an ori and reflash it using K-tag... X-prog is not much of an help in that case... Thank you for watching and for your comment!

That should be an EDC17C11... Most likely has an OTP area... Might be possible to move the OTP data and do it that way... but not sure, never done one... This tool will be most likely able to read and write... but obviously not into the OTP... Thank you for watching!

i wish you were a lot closer to kent, seems the dealer who sold me a car cant fix it. engine light comes once you been at or near 70 for a 5 mins on motorway, misfires and loses power, restart gets some of it back and engine light turns off, but still missing, get to dealer after the little rest , its not missing anymore, hes a honda main dealer but cant scan all the codes from a ford (too tight to buy a real scanner) alreay ive had 2 coil packs (one pack 4 cylinder) 4 leads, 4 plugs, same error...hes too lazy to test drive it properly,

You can't. In most cases the dashboard itself keep them and if that is VAG/Merc/BMW then it write in the ecu eeprom and dash.Then constantly check and take the highest value. if your plan is lower the odometer value you need either really special software or to change on both places

I got a malone stage 2 tune and that helped only for couple of weeks and now it is back to what I started with :( car feels as if I was going 4k rpm when gauage shows 2k :( and engine is so much louder ! malone aknowledges my issue and really dont know what is wrong with my car since the file off from my computer looks completly fine ! I have been told that they use some software to dump tune and that could fix it but i really dont know how and what to do... can you possibly help ?

for ecu backup must run full backup ... if ecu is tuned before you read only a full backup will save you lots of time and problems ... full backup give you one complete backup to restore and seperete files to mod

@@LMAutoRepairs first of all .. i very happy to comunicate with you .. you are one of the reason i started work with cars ... but in this case you not 100 right i know its same read ... but if you will get a pre tuned ecu by another softwer that use diffrent chksum calc you will have some hard time if ktag will not stop you in time ... and give you write the ecu . your only mpc backup will do cksum error ... and only full restore in ktag its turn off automatic chsum belive me ... happend to me a lot on edc16 and edc17cp18 with ktag

@@hp201279 🤔 I think there is some confusion here... When you backup, either full or the eprom and flash separately, they are saved with the current and correct checksums... If you need to write them back, if the tool you use does not correct them for that particular module, that still ok...(as far as you have not made any modifications...) That's regardless of the backup was an original unmodified file, or a tunned one... I always make backups separately, because obviously the eprom is going to be for that particular car, the flash however , in some cases can be used in other similar cars/module... If you backup everything in one file, and then you want to use only the flash, you need to separate the eprom from the flash... Yes, is not a problem, and either way is correct... I just prefer this way....

@@LMAutoRepairs happend to me few time ... edc16 read with ktag full bdm but ktag refuse to write mod file ... and refuse write same mpc i read cksum error .. i use galleto bdm no cksum option and a mpc after cksum with winols

@@hp201279 Yes... but that is a K-tag issue... Theoretically shouldn't happen... possibly because as mine, is a clone K-tag... 👍👍👍
