This tree was removed due to the crown of the tree had completely died off leaving only a few live branches. She was threatening and in line with the new power line being built at the time.
We don’t leave these to Rot as it becomes increasingly dangerous to remove as they decay and develop unstable tops and generally dangerous working conditions.
In some cases we will leave a wildlife stub to accommodate small critters birds and wildlife but due to this one’s location that wasn’t an option
For peace of mind there is trees twice this size within 100 meters any direction from here and is not devastating the forest, this is as selective as it gets short of single stemming via helicopter.
Do you enjoy your electricity well I’ve been diligently maintaining the power lines for the past ten years so you can enjoy it. have some respect and put some thought behind your comments please and thanks

Fellow arborist/line clearing specialist here. I’ve cut hundreds of Doug Fir danger trees off right of way contracts. There is a lot that goes in to taking a tree like that. People need to understand that multiple agencies, including the forest service, often times have to sign off on such removals. No one is a bigger advocate for trees than arborists and sawyers. It’s not just a job, but a way of life. Nice work!

How could killing the peaceful elders of our planet be called a way of life
@ponderosaoutdoors
@ponderosaoutdoors Жыл бұрын
@@fractalflight5752 first thing is first. You are extremely uneducated on the matter. In the current situation at hand, the tree had lost its crown which is pretty much a death sentence for a tree and makes it extremely unpredictable. Also, old growth forests aren’t always good. They choke other native species out and don’t allow younger trees, some with better genetics, to grow. It also creates poor habitat for ungulates and other animals. On top of all that, in many areas it’s a recipe for destructive fires.

Real talk. If a true arborist is falling a tree, it needs removal. They know more about trees, and there's a lot to know, than anyone who's never cut one.

Here in South Georgia they still grow this big . Cypress . Ancient Trees. Even cooler is finding preserved cypress in a swamp. The trees lived for hundreds of years and then sat in the mud for hundreds more

There should be a balance. If the old tree does not get chopped then how can a new one. Imagine that your house is fully surrounded by lots of trees and plants. You're gonna chop them to prevent your area from getting surrounded by it. The only thing we can do is to maintain a balance between everything. Hope you get it.🤗

To anyone complaining about him cutting trees down, just know that our earth has more trees now than it did 200 years ago. The research suggests an area covering 2.24 million square kilometers - roughly the combined land surface of Texas and Alaska, has been added to global tree cover since 1982. This equates to 7% of the Earth’s surface covered by new trees. What i will say is that part of me does feel sad when i see a tree that is 300 years old being cut down. Just think... that tree was alive when the american revolution happened! That tree has stood there since the invention of cars, airplanes, WW1, WW2, the cold war, and the technological revolution. If anything, i think it shows how little the earth actually changes in a period of 400 years. 400 years is a lot to us, but to nature, 400 years is a blip in the time scale. Just think of how many things can be made from this one tree... those products will go on and make tools, desks, dressers, houses, etc. 1 tree can literally be transformed into thousands of products that affect people all over the world. On top of that, us humans have been pretty good about planting new trees when we cut old ones down. Think about it like a forest fire... its a naturally occuring process.. and even though a lot of things die in the process, it opens up tons of new areas for life to restart and regrow. Our entire earth and all of nature is just cycles of destruction and rebirth.
