I completely agree on info dumps in fantasy and Sci-fi. Yes, some things could be shown rather than told, but this is (in many cases) a completely new world you need to learn the ins and outs of, and sometimes info dumps are necessary.

My favourite book series is "A Court of Thorns and Roses" series. I swear this year I've read it at least once a month and I'm so in love with the characters. The solstice night scene in the last book honestly made me feel like they're my family in such a time of loneliness that is 2020.

I'm not a reader by any means, but I have infact read The Song of Achilles and I think that the book is very well written and Madeline Miller writes exceptionally and poetically so those 1 star reviews hurt me too. I have not read the other books at all. Love the high pony tail BTW you're so aesthetic with the warm tones and especially the scrunchie.

Hi Elizabeth, I had to chuckle at the end of the video, I would love to see a video of your one star reviews! I love your sense of humor, and I definitely think you would give an honest review. I love the high pony, but I just love your beautiful hair, period. I used to have long hair, and I miss it. I am trying to grow mine back. Unfortunately, I have not had a lot of time to read for the past several years it seems. I used to be a voracious reader, but single mother-hood pretty much put an end to that. All I did for many years was work and take care of my son. For the last 20 or so years, I have mostly read non-fiction, but 'back in the day', I used to read a lot. One of my all-time favorite books is "Watership Down" by Richard Adams. I highly recommend it, and I think you and your husband would especially like it being fans of Winnie the Pooh. I also love most of the late Lawrence Sanders books. The Archy McNally series is my favorite. Recently (the last 10 years) I have been loving the Charlie Davidson series by Darynda Jones. "First Grave on the Right", "Second Grave on the Left", Third Grave Straight Ahead"). They go up to thirteen I believe, but I have only read to six or seven. Life got in the way. Thanks for the laughs and the reviews. When I get the time, I will check out your Goodreads list. I always love a good book! Forgot my IB/TWT @LizTDesigns for both Socials. :)

I didn't think this would be a video for me, so I didn't watch it until now and to my surprise, I got a book recommendation and what sold me to that book was a one star review! XD The second book had someone writing it's a book for ppl who likes Firefly and Star Wars and I adore Firefly :) I have tended to avoid getting tips of book since I don't have that much money (I've had months where I had to choose between medicine and food a few weeks, until I get money back for the medicine to be able to buy food) and I prefer to read books in it's original language, which can be a problem since I live in Sweden and my Swedish local library tends to only have a few books in English. But I'm going to put that book on my read list. Well the first book and then this book :P

I listened more than watched; I was downloading papers about autism for a research project. I felt your pain. Mostly because, as I was skimming abstracts, I found a study by a group in California who developed a blood test for "early detection and treatment" of autism during pregnancy. (Hint: the way to "treat" autism in pregnancy, according to the abstract, was at Planned Parenthood.) I also felt personally attacked. It was nice to have company in online collateral personal attacks!

i never give any credit to reviews or critiques where they are trying to exert some sense of superiority for disliking it, when the critique turns into a judgement of people who enjoyed it instead of explaining why they did not. i dunno, maybe it’s just me, i don’t like “no room for discussion” people in things like this. also in regards to the second book, one of my favorite quotes is from david mitchell’s cloud atlas (SUCH a cool book btw, I’ve enjoyed all i’ve read from mitchell so far): “But it’s been done a hundred times before!” -as if there could be anything not done a hundred thousand times between Aristophanes and Andrew Void-Webber! I am absolutely feeling personally attacked by those A Closed And Common Orbit reviews. Childish?! Softer, kinder science fiction absolute has space to exist. To say otherwise is dismissive of a good chunk of readers, dangit.

Someone insulted one of your fav books: Someone called Haruki Murakami a pedophile while describing Kafka On the Shore. I was incensed and there was a debate. My favourite book of all time (so far): Breast and Eggs by Mieko Kawakami My Instagram: instagram.com/binatisheth/

I once got bullied for making notes on Harry Potter series for a pottermore fest, because apparently it was too nerdy and Harry potter is for kids. Anyways, I got the final round so screw them. 😊😊

hmmm... I don't know about my favourite book. I really loved the Harry Potter series (thank you Shakira for writing those), the His Dark Materials trilogy, the Adrian Mole diary series, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruis Zafon and Revenge of the Lawn by Richard Brautigan (especially the short story Revenge of the Lawn, contained within). Oh, also Ender's Game. Oh, and most recently, The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle . @vegdogmom on instagram :)

I totally understand how you feel when you read 1 star reviews of your favorite books lol! Im in my mid 20s and I love reading YA fiction books typically revolving around vampires (these books brings me back to when I was in highschool and the simpler times haha) but those books tend to get such bad reviews it hurts 😭 my favorite 2020 vampire book/series is by Tracey Wolff - Crave/Crush, IG: @ntartistry_

I feel you on this because I’m SO protective of books I love! My favorite book of all time is The Shack. It challenges my beliefs, makes me think, it’s suspenseful, it has all the things I’m looking for. But it’s funny because my family is so divided on this book! My dad and I love it, but my mom and brother HATE it! My brother isn’t much of a reader so that’s not a surprise. But my mom felt deceived by the writing style because it’s a fiction book written as if it’s non-fiction and she didn’t realize it wasn’t true. I personally like that about the book though 🤷🏼‍♀️ Instagram: @joannehartsings 😊

Oof. One review called characters I really resonated with “flat” and I felt like they were calling me flat, haha. Not all books work for all people! I’m @whimsicalbiologist on IG :)
