Reading Abbey explained!! And how I met President Carter!!

Some may say there's not much of the Abbey left, after the attacks by Henry VIII and King Charles.
But they built things to last in those days, and these buildings must have given the Benedictine monks centuries of security.
For my overseas friends, 'Homes under the Hammer' is a British TV program, which follows people who buy a house at auction and do it up.
Obviously Reading Abbey needs 'doing up', but is not for sale!!
President Jimmy Carter is still alive as I write this, at the end of September 2024, but he is 90 odd now. He was quite alarmed to meet me, as he wasn't expecting a Brit to appear round the back of the Carter Center!!
