Thank you for this excellent reading and for introducing me to this marvelous essay. I look forward to spending much more time plumbing its depths. There is something about Whitman's poetry that synthesizes art and philosophy in a way that speaks to me deeply.

This was great! I had to read this for school and had trouble with connecting with the story by just reading it myself, but you really helped me feel a connection to the text. Thank you!

Thank you so much for this reading❤. And you read it so beautifuly❤. I was searching for the specific lines that come soon after 11:00. To be with powerful, uneducated men and women. The entire spread from 11:00 to 12:30ish minutes. My gratitude. ❤😊

Why have you missed out such large portions?

In the 1855 edition I read from, this was the entire preface. We try to keep the readings to 30 minutes to an hour, but we indicate in the description if we have to leave anything out.
