I’m so glad you enjoyed all of these books! I’m always too scared to purchase the blind date with a book. I definitely need to add Nectar of the Wicked to my TBR 💕

I just bought a blind date with a book from Etsy as well. In the next day or so I will get sent an email that has a survey so I can tell them my likes and dislikes for my book tastes. I’m so glad they are doing that. It is so nice and not just a random choice. I’m so excited to have a blind date with a book because you have liked yours.

I’ve realised all the “basic” fantasies are always a fun time, but high fantasy can sometimes become boring so I will defend them forever 😅❤

"Belladonna" is an example of a book I gave a second chance. I tried it December 2023, when I went back to the US for a holiday and had access to a library, and gave up around where she first found the garden. I gave it a chance again this year, though, because a friend I trust convinced me, and I ended up liking it a lot more once I got through my initial irritations. I liked it so much I'm now on the third one. Definitely not a 4 or 5 star book for me, but it was fun and interesting, and that's all I ask for sometimes.

OMG! I honestly forgot that today is ellen Sunday, but logged into my laptop to check youtube anyway, afer not doing it for almost a week. This is Perfect! And 40 mins long? So great!! Can't wait to finally relax with one of your videos again, the days around christmas were so stressful and i got sick and everything... Also I really hope this puts me back into a reading mood, since I've been in such a bad reading slump lately 😭 Love this video idea btw, it sounds super fun!! Lots of love, Sophia ❤

You should definitely read Him and Us before Good Boy. You see a lot of mmc in Us. And they are wonderful books!

I’ve read both nectar of the wicked and wrath of the damned they were middle of the road for me 3 and 1/2 stars. They were fun but not rememberable. Belladonna OMGGGGG I feel seen! I absolutely loved this one and the second one!! It’s so so so so soooo good. Both are 5 stars for me and were so fun!!!
@juliacash813528 күн бұрын
I’m glad you tried belladonna. I love that book and am so glad you read it. I’m glad you liked it well enough. You should read the other two in the series as well. I liked the second one even better than the first one and rated it five stars. Give them a try. Also I would love to see your list you have of books you’ve written off. I’d love to try and persuade you to read some of them if I have read them.

If you like kilt trip PLEASEEEE read seven letters by JP Monninger. It’s set in Ireland instead of Scott land but it’s very similar to kilt trip form what I heard you say and it was sooo good but it will tear you apart

I am curious if the cover of the book is what gave you vibes that it wouldn't be your kind of read? If yes, do you feel the cover matches the vibes of the book? Just a theory that perhaps the cover did not do justice to the book.

Love this idea! I would love to see more installments of it in the future. Boy, your friend packages books she sends really beautifully. When "Belladonna" came up it rang a bell, that it had been in your "Will never read" video. I held my breath and then I liked how you decided to deal with the awkwardness -- by reading it! And I approved of you not looking these up *at all* on Goodreads before reading them -- to preserve completely the "blind dates" idea. Loved all, but your black and white sweater especially, in the clothing category. Thanks Ellen!

I’m very guilty of righting off fantasy and romantasy as I’m very much a realist and also when I read I very rarely have the pictures in my head of what is happening so I think they would go over my head. I’ve enjoyed a couple of magical realism books and also I have the hobbit ago a few years ago and enjoyed it but that is as far as I’ve got. I’d be happy to try a standalone fantasy maybe or maybe a fantasy that’s based in the real world that I could be familiar with already. Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm scottish and have read this - it is heavy on the caricature of Scottish people but if you can just take as a bit silly and goofy then it's forgivable!
