I’m definitely not one to watch video trends. Sometimes they seem forced. I much prefer to watch videos about books people want to read. Your videos are some of my favorites. Thanks.

‘Carrion Comfort’! This is the first Dan Simmons I read. People originally thought he was the next Stephen King but he is so much more. ‘Hyperion’ broke him out of the horror mode. What a writer.

Of all the books on this list the one I’ve read is Carrion Comfort, long time ago as it is. It really excited to see the cover of the edition I read what seems like so long ago but don’t know where it is or if I have it anymore (boxes, garages, movings, etc) but brings back a cool memory. And still there are memorable scenes that stuck with me like when the mind-control vampire guy takes control of people on the bus. Yes readers out there, there’s a mind-controller in this book and it’s fascinating. If I remember correctly they had scenes with him at the side of world dictators throughout history. Where it was slow and could have cut back on a lot of pages was in the over description of towns and street names throughout long chase scenes. I can’t remember how it ended but it’s well worth the read. Dan Simmons has another book called The Song Of Kali that I can’t ever forget how it ended. Check that one out. It’s a short book (especially compared to Carrion) and has haunted me and made me mad since I read it some years ago too. So check that out when you get a chance. 👍🏻Great video and thanks as always. You’ve added a few books to my list already.

I went out of my comfort zone and picked up my first Light Novels. Granted they are the Vampire Hunter D novels so its not really all that far off from normal. They are fun 80s horror sci fi that sort of fills the same itch as dying earth stories like Jack Vance and Tanith Lee.

Since you like kidnapping stories you may enjoy No Exit by Taylor Adams (if you haven’t already read it!). It was one of my favorites in 2023. And I LOVE that Foe has a nice spot on your shelf! I loved that book so much! ❤ It was a watershed book for me making me realize I need to dig deeper into mystery / suspense / thriller.

I’m reading Ask For Andrea at the moment. So far so good. I recently read Black Sheep by Rachel Harrison and Butcher and Blackbird by Brynne Weaver. B&B wasn’t for me. I’m not the target audience for it, but I know a lot of people did like that one though. I did enjoy Black Sheep, however. It was a lot of fun.
