I love these videos they are such a fun concept. I think Sadie would be considered road trip and ya thriller. Not sure if there would be any others though but that might help you find others. Also I'm an Aries and my anxiety has been super high this year and your comment in the video about Aries and not wanting to be out of control really just packed a punch for me. Maybe that plays a part in my anxiety being so high because yes I hate not being in control of things its part of the reason I hate driving during storms because I no longer feel in control and my anxiety gets so high. So you've given me a lot to think about. Great video.

For detective/police poverties, i recommend Find Her by Lisa Gardner. It's in the middle of a series but you don't need to read the others (I didn't and followed it fine), but it had a very gripping storyline that I would love to hear your thoughts on. I don't normally enjoy reading from a detective's pov either. Also loved the part you were high in this video, lol, yass Lala!

The Hamilton clip 🤣🤣🤣 this vlog was so much fun! That air b&b was so cute! This Adventure Ends is on my 20 for 20 TBR list. So I’m glad to see your review of it. Gone but Not Forgotten by Phillip Margolin is a detective thriller novel I’d recommend you trying.

I very much agree that the last part of The Passengers did seem pretty different in pace and theme from the rest of the book. And I didn’t really care about it much. I liked the twist but I didn’t care about the characters enough to enjoy it. The One was so much better and gripping. John Marrs is definitely a new favorite this year.

Loved the video. Got tired of the detective PoV 5 years ago. Now for the whole hidden/stolen identity, there's I let you go by Clare Mackintosh. Also The turn of the key by Ruth Ware but I believe you're read that. And The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine, which is lots of fun. They're all thrillers, by the way.

I got into reading when I was 15-16 years old and it started with The Last Coyote by Michael Connelly, who has a huge series about a homicide detective, Harry Bosch, which is now a show on Amazon Prime. So I do enjoy detective books, and would be interested in seeing that. Also, I was excited to see the same bridge that I vlogged in August during our road trip, during the readEHthon :D It's like seeing your city in a movie/show/book haha. Like at the very end of Dexter there's a scene of the Greyhound bus pulling into "Daytona, Florida" and it's one of our main streets in Ft.Mac!
@FrodoTheShortOne4 жыл бұрын
For detective POV I've got a very odd recommendation. It's called Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann. The main POV is a flock of sheep who try to figure out who killed their Sheppard 😅 set in Ireland and written by German author, I really enjoyed it and think due to the non-traditional detective POV you might enjoy it too Kayla 😊
@tracey72414 жыл бұрын

@@tracey7241 I would definitely recommend it if you can get hold of a copy. It's a nice light hearted detective/ murder mystery. I came across it in a charity shop and have never seen it anywhere else. There is a sequel but it hasn't been translated in English. Fingers crossed it will one day!

this video has me curious about how you'd feel about jenni hendricks' unpregnant since it has some of the quirky road trip tropes but it also is a spin on a lot of those tropes and it's more like about two people having emotional growth and second chance friendship + commentary on abortion but you also could just watch the new movie instead of reading an entire book
@BooksandLala4 жыл бұрын
I've heard a lot of great things about that book! I don't prefer to read about pregnancy/miscarriage/abortion type topics if I can avoid it, so I'll be passing on that one- but I may actually check out the movie! thanks for the rec my friend! :)

For detective POV, and it could actually also work for hidden/secret identity, The Likeness by Tana French would be an interesting one to see you read in a vlog. It's part of the Dublin Murder Squad series (but *extremely* different from the first book, In the Woods, aside from the fact that the main character was also in that one), following a young detective who has to infiltrate a close-knit friend group (like Secret History/If We Were Villains levels of close) after her doppelgänger is found dead.

Ooh! For hidden identity, I LOVED Lady Maybe by Julie Klassen, Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge, and Jane Doe by Victoria Helen Stone. Two of those also have a favorite trope of mine, a character that you just love to hate, and you can't wait to see their glorious downfall. As far as detective stories, any cozy mystery, but specifically Darynda Jones and her Charley Davidson series. So good!
