so agree with all the remarks of Gemina audiobook vs physical book!. What I did was reading them all physically for the first time. Before Obsidio came out, I listened to the Illuminae and Gemina audibook. This way you still get the enjoyment of the physical books, and get the enjoyment of the audiobooks too. To this day though I still have to listen to the Obsidio audiobook.

Re: Loneliest Girl - I read a book recently where I had a similar experience. I kept assuming that the plot was going to go somewhere totally out of left field and it was huge letdown when those weird character choices turned out to be just bad writing and the plot remained completely predictable. I was very interested to see what you thought of Gravity of Us, because I felt it was very meh. I had no concept of the social media parts, so it was cool to hear your perspective. For me, I wanted more fleshed out characters (some of that reality show plot could have been cut for more developed characters and greater focus on the relationship) and less on what sandals the main character was wearing in the Texas heat.
@Elliterally4 жыл бұрын
omg lol the sandals were a recurring thing and i didn't understand why they were mentioned more than his best friend, even

I could have watched this video last night before going to bed, but then I wouldn't have had it to look forward to this morning after my husband went to work. :) With Illuminae, I listened to parts and read parts. I have the audiobooks for Gemina and Obsidio so I plan to read and listen at the same time. I have tried to get audiobooks for the books I have been reading lately because I get distracted easily. Too much on my mind I guess. But the audiobooks really help, especially when they have good narrators.

I LIT up when you said you gave Gemina 5 stars!!! I'm so so glad you loved it! I reread all the series in a month and it was so much fun and I picked up on so much by reading them back to back! I also totally understand being hyperfocused on the logistics of a story that focuses on KZbin-esque stuff. It was my biggest problem when reading Tash Hearts Tolstoy and Kiss Cam - I was like.... but this doesn't actually make sense. Sorry, you didn't love all the books, but I'm glad Gemina was a win!

might i suggest for space themed, ‘Glow’ by Amy Kathleen Ryan? i read it my freshman year for my english class we had to read a classic and a contemporary that had similar themes, so i read The Scarlett Letter (which is awful, DNF, never finished, used sparknotes for the assignment lol) and then Glow! it’s about the first generation to be successfully conceived in deep space and theyre on a voyage to find New Earth. it’s pretty good from what i remember! albeit, that was 7 years ago, and i have t read it since, but i do remember enjoying it! :)

Now that I think about it - I haven't read that many books that are about/taking place in space. I've read G. R. R. Martin's sci-fi short stories, and loved them and recommend, but besides that… 3 other books in total, maybe? 4 including the one I dnf'd.
