Know My Name by Chanel Miller was one of my favorite non fiction books ever. I am both a survivor of SA and work with children survivors of SA. This book honestly really changed me as a person by saying "yes, this system sucks and you can't control it or fix it yourself, but individual moments of kindness still matter, respect and empathy still matter, and professionalism still matters". It really did a lot of healing of my heart, especially reading it while prepping to testify in a trial that had very low odds of conviction (which was, in fact, not successful). It kept me motivated that I can still make a difference, and that even if the legal system fails, I can still make the journey easier for my fellow survivors. I can't be anything but the kindest version of myself.

Know My Name by Chanel Miller is one of the best books I've ever read. Period. I've said this time and time again but the book broke me down but built me back up. I absolutely love her and this book and I recommend it all the time albeit cautiously because it can just be so triggering. YAY for so many 5 star reads through this! 💞

The fact that you’re cool about reading a pandemic story this soon after the real deal means you had a very different experience than I did. That’d be PTSD central, for me, at this point. I birthed my critically-ill son during the peak of Delta, in Canada, and had to juggle his stay in ICU, on life support, alongside frequent testing and one-parent-at-a-time policies. Absolutely terrifying. 😥
