That jumping puzzle used to be really popular in the 70's. I knew several family members who had wooden versions of it with pegs. Did this puzzle a lot as a kid!

7:18 I'm pretty sure the definition of the square root only accounts for the positive solution, it would be required to add the +/- if you have something like x^2=4, but the square root itself only produces one positive value.

I'm surprised you don't have a bigger presence on KZbin, you're the only male voice I've found that doesn't make me cringe after a minute. of course my opinion doesn't base whose popular on KZbin, but uniqueness sells and you've got it!

Thanks for the support, brother (or sister). And I feel you regarding what I like and what's popular on youtube... lol... based on what I think is great content, I'm guessing I live in an alternate universe. I blame it all on Flashpoint :)

chycho It would be brother haha. I've never watched Flashpoint, game of thrones is my poison. Have a great day! coming from Halifax!

Love Game of Thrones as well, fantastic show. Another one on the same level is Westworld. Very cool that we got all of Canada sandwiched between us. Lots of love and peace from the west coast, Victoria, BC :)

No Carl Barks in the comic; maybe Toni Strobl, maths and a nerd whispering and calling himself "chyco" (psico?), well; that's a hell of a program.

Cool, good on them. Wish they lasted longer in the industry than the early-mid 70's.

Enjoyed the clip very much, thank you. I'm interested, do you know other comic books, that introduce the basics of mathematics (or other sciences, f.e. physics) in a similar way? As a non-related to science in my daily work reader i find it more engaging to know something new by reading comics, than just picking up a book about mathematics, without any art :) i'm interested in sciences to an extent, but the way it's presented matters to me a lot as well :)

I wish there were more comics like this but just going by memory nothing else comes to mind right now. That said, i'm sure there are, just have to find them... and you're very welcome regarding the video, a pleasure to share. Peace :)

Hey chycho, unrelated to the vid, I wanted to recommend looking into a professor in Toronto named Jordan Peterson. I really think you'll find him quite interesting and thank you for introducing me to Paul Craig Roberts :)
@chycho8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the hook-up, Bob. He's the prof that people got all hot blooded about in TO isn't he? Looks like he has a video series out on political correctness. Nice! I'll definitely check it out... just got to find it. Got to love people who challenge the big brother system. Thanks again :)
@chycho8 жыл бұрын
Thanks again for pointing me towards Peterson. I watched some of his lectures/talk/conversations - they've been great so far - and some of the videos of people harassing him about not being 'politically correct' - incredible how far Canada has fallen, so many words come to mind. Schools are no longer bastions of free speech and thought, far from it, just one reason why I'm creating my math curriculum independently.
@masterofhax8 жыл бұрын
+chycho No problem glad I could help lol he's got some really interesting lectures and watching him debate is really fun. Political correctness is getting outta hand nowadays.

And the goods keep on coming! Thank you, Chycho! I guess I'm not the only viewer who just needs a little bit of time to digest the nearly 3 hours of content of the last days :-) Btw, a couple of weeks ago was the 300th anniversary of the death of G. W. Leibniz. What an inimitable polymath! en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gottfried_Wilhelm_Leibniz
@chycho8 жыл бұрын
haha... guess that is almost 3 hours of videos in the last few days. I should slow this down a little... hehe... the way I end up doing the calculations, I just count it as two videos irreverent of time. That said, this one gave me huge problems in the processing department, crashed the software multiple times and I actually had to go through a few more edits and cut it down a bit. I know your a comic book history buff but, unfortunately, I ended up cutting out the short discussion of this video about the creators of the comic (writer and artists). Some cool history there actually and I'll see what I can do to include it in another video. As for Leibniz, I totally missed his anniversary. I swear, the mathematicians of old make us look really slow, especially if you consider that they didn't have much technology to help them in their work.
@FrF8 жыл бұрын
chycho Oh yes, please include the section about the creators at a future point if possible. In a sense it's probably a bit grueling that creating things is so much more time-consuming than merely watching/listening/reading. (One could gobble up oodles of videos in the amount of time it takes to make one...) Not to be downbeat about the process :-)
@chycho8 жыл бұрын
No, not downbeat. I love the creating process, even though it can definitely be frustrating and extremely time consuming at times. I've been working on this one for three days now... lol... watching the final product though, well worth it, just as much as detaching the cover from the staples in the reading process... heh :)
