Hi, Chycho. I have been enjoying rediscovering my love of 90's Valiant comics. Wanting to see videos from people who shared my care for these old books led me to your channel, which I'm really enjoying now! Your reads are great and relaxing to sit back to, hearing you go through the pages. Especially because I cannot afford to rebuy these now pricey gems and your reading voice is fantastic! I first read Valiant as a 12 year old young dude in Southern California and seeing you talk about your enthusiasm for them makes my day. Thank you! I just bought a lot of the whole original run of Magnus Robot Fighter from Jim Shooter's run and I am inspired to make a video sharing them now. I'm thankful to have found your channel :) Have an awesome time continuing!

+MrRigamortis86 Thanks, brother. For me too, the early Valiants from the 90's were a game changer. They were raw, original, and focused on storytelling across multiple titles, building a coherent universe like no other. I think I will always come back to these books and re-read many of them. For sure, if you end up making some videos on Magnus send me a link. Would love to check them out since I still haven't read the whole run and would love to get a feel from someone else's perspective that loved the books. Magnus and Solar are the titles that pulled me into the Valiant universe and I will always love them for that.

+Westendbuddah Thanks, brother/sister. I definitely do try and make sure that both comic book aficionados as well as new comers or those intrigued by the medium enjoy these vids. Very cool that it's working out that way. Peace :)

Your voice really makes me feel calm. I just discovered Valiant and I instantly fell in love with this Publisher (I shouldn't tell my wife what I spend this month for their trades xD). So, you have the perfect Channel for me ;) Btw, I love the fact, you are answering every Comment on your Channel. This just shows you are a nice Person and you care about your followers. Greetings from Germany ;)

+Johannes Körsgen For sure, I try and answer as many questions as I can and make sure that everyone feels welcome here. As for Valiant, all I can say about them is Wow wow wow! Amazing story telling. Fall of Bloodshot and Fall of Harbinger were two of the best stand-alone issues I've read for a very long time. And I just read Book of Death and followed it up with Eternal Warrior #1, loved it... you are right though, definitely spending a fair penny on catching up and keeping up to the relaunch. Salutations from Canada :)

i really appreciate your videos, you put so much effort on them, you make a lot research to give the videos a incredible content, and you make these videos knowing that not to many will noticed those little details, you are a truly professional and organized guy, you are an example of person for me, thank you Chycho for the awesomeness! Salutes from Brazil

Thanks, Leonardo. I try my best on every video and that has taught me a lot. What I find absolutely beautiful is that no matter how much I've research a topic I've ended up learning more from peoples comments. I actually plan on putting together a short little video sharing three of the most recent things that i learned after loading up the videos, things that people shared regarding the comics that I've read so far. Fun all around. Salutations to you as well from Canada... love Brazil and huge respect for Sepultura. Awesome metal :))

The glossy cover version is more scarce than the matte version.
@chycho7 жыл бұрын
I'm assuming we're talking about Rai #0. So which version would you consider this one to be?
@orangehillcomics78307 жыл бұрын
chycho Yes. I'm sorry for not mentioning that in my original post. You can tell the difference between the glossy version and matte by the cover. The glossy version, which is more scarce, has a slightly shorter, cropped cover, and the edges of the pages on the right side of the comic can be seen when the cover is closed. Does that make sense? I looked at my three copies, and all of them are the more common matte version. If you google Rai 0 glossy cover and Rai 0 matte cover, you should be able to find pictures of both and see the difference. It appears from your video you have the matte version. Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it as well as your videos on your Comico Primer books.
@chycho7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info, brother, I didn't know that. I'll definitely keep this in mind when i come across the copies that I have, going by memory though, I think all of mine are matte version.
@orangehillcomics78307 жыл бұрын
chycho No problem at all. Here is a pretty good discussion about it if you're interested: forum.cbcscomics.com/topic/2141/page/1/rai-0---glossy-or-matte/#21

Cool, thanks for the link. Looks like there is a major price differnece between the two. Good to know when I decide to sell a couple of copies... or maybe even buy one more :)

Chycho, another great video man! You were right, loved watching this video! I recently ordered an eternal warrior 4 from atomic avenue for cheap, super excited! Keep the videos coming!
@chycho9 жыл бұрын
+TheBolivian3 Will do, brother, and nice buy with EW #4. Key issue, one of the top 10 Valiants for sure. I loved reading Rai #0. I couldn't believe everything that happened in it. One thing that was awesome as well, it sort of tied into what's happening with Valiant right now so it was a real treat.

I realise its an older video but you mentioned that 10 dollars, (i'm assuming canadian dollars) is absurd. i'm not sure if the UK is more expensive or what but the exchange rate at the moment makes that around £5.50. For a book of art that doesn't seem too bad to me considering most books in bookshops cost at least £9.
@chycho6 жыл бұрын
I can't remember what I was referring to, can you tell me at what time I mentioned this? Aside from that, yup, $10 is not very much for art that brings you joy.
@gillyobaggin6 жыл бұрын
chycho it was about the death of dead pool being too expensive. I’m glad you agree. I suppose people have different budgets but I would personally spend a lot more than I do if I so needed to. Thank you for bringing comic book and asmr together by the way. Never thanked you before but I do really appreciate all your videos.

chycho you're an absolute legend. I agree with the last comment completely. Have you ever considered setting up an online comic book shop yourself? I know you said you where involved in the business before but what about online through your own site.
@chycho9 жыл бұрын
+MrTcvip Thanks, brother. Not sure about being a legend, I just try my best and love what I do. As for an online comic shop, maybe in the future but right now my plate is super full and I am loving what I do both on and off line. Once I phase out a project or two, who knows, I may make some space to start a comic project or two, in addition to these readings of course :)

Hey, did you ever read any of the old Elric comics? I bought an omnibus of them and thought they were really great, but that might just be because I'm a big Elric fan, heheh.

+ButtsMcGeeson Oh my! I never new about these books. Looks like Roy Thomas wrote some of the stories as well and it looks awesome. Thank you for the recommendation, I've added it to my list and I'll see what I can do to get my hands on a few issues. Fun :)

Maybe some day I'll do a metal version of some comic book reads... lol... not sure how that would turn out but might be fun.... until them though, one thing I do myself when I feel the urge to re-read/watch some of the comic book reads I've done is play the videos at 1.5 times (sometimes 2.0x) the speed with the volume kicked up :)
@arsetogob7 жыл бұрын
chycho lol go for it man 🤘🏻, sorry if I came off like a prick, I think years of attending metal shows has damaged my hearing so it's just hard for me to hear whispering at times. I was trying to watch your vids while doing some bagging and boarding yesterday, but I couldn't hear you talking over the noise I was making haha. That's why I said i wish you were just speaking normally, I guess I just need to get a bluetooth speaker and crank it up. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll give it a try.
@chycho7 жыл бұрын
No worries, Allern, your comment didn't come off in a bad way at all... i'm pretty sure the "lol" gave it away :) Ditto for me and metal shows, not too good for the hear but man are they good for the soul... nothing like a metal show with minimal number of tourists with a full blown contingent of fans. Brilliant! As for the vids, yup, headphones it is, that's how I usually end up editing them so I sort of gear them that way. I'll keep your comment in mind though, there have been others that have recommended it as well so I'll see what I can do to walk that fine line between asmr and metal :)
