Edit: This is why I loved some of the Pendulum monster cards. Monsters with both an effect and lore flavor text Some of the old-school games have the flavor text for certain effect, fusion, and ritual monsters. Yugioh: Forbidden Memories for the PS1 is one that I can think of where every monster appears on the field as just a vanilla monster. Edit: Obviously there are no synchro, xyz, and link monsters on those games.

@Dzeef, Mekk-Knight Avram actually had his flavor text changed drastically when he was ported over to the TCG. Originally, he had an entire poem in the OCG. Here's a rough translation provided by Yu-GI-Oh! Wikia: The hero who defends the light of the stars Must destroy the darkness of the illusory world And entrust his power to the chosen one. The will inherited by the chalice of the stars will become a new key And become the sword that cuts down darkness. I've enjoyed the lore behind the world of the Mekk-Knights, World Chalice, Krawlers, and Orcusts since they came out, so I thought this might be cool to share.

I thought there was only one of them. :D The amount of Dark World and ocean/water themes in Normal Monsters, even with monsters not directly related to Dark Worlds, is incredible. The reason why old normal mosnters have very short descriptions, is because of the old OCG card layout. The description of the card was located in a mall box at the bottom left of the card, and teh stats in another box at the bottom right, there was very little space for descitption and so thext was right to the point.
