Wow, been a long time since my gramps took me to the "banger" racing at the oxford road track, 1970-71 he lived up on thirlmere ave. What was that song they used to play on the loudspeakers as the cars were going round. ?

I saw many races at reading speedway. Dick Tobias 17 was the best. He filled his frame with water to weigh in, and then on the first lap he opened a valve and let it out.

Wouldn’t that have been rather obvious? Everyone would see him dump a crazy amount of water on the dirt track. Also I must note, crazy I’m commenting on a 10 yr old comment. The internet is old now.

@@jash6105 That's the fact I'm related to Leroy Felty and bought most of my racing parts from Tobias speed shop, and a car from him. I went to the reading speed way every weekend. Dirt tracks are also wet down to stop the dust and soften the clay.🤔

@@rocknrollrod5 fair, but aren’t they more so dampened? By the way, this is slightly unrelated but I’m scrambling for answers and haven’t found any yet. I’m watching the ‘79 winston cup season and I’m the Daytona 500 that year they mention Gary Ballough racing In Reading, would that be at the fairgrounds ?
