Fun fact about seeing the french comment about orgasm, it's because a science oriented french youtuber talked about classical music and musical chills. It was said that rachmaninov piano concerto No 2 is the most likely according to a study to give you this kind of chills, which is also called skin orgasm, so that is why a lot of french, seeing the video wanted to check if they would have the phenomenon. Here's a tip: When the conductor puts his arm with the baton down, then you clap. Usually conductors will still have their baton in the air when they are going on to the next movement. Believe me. One time, the audience started clapping in the middle song in a concert that I was in. We had to stop for a second to turn the page, and they ended up clapping because they thought the song was over. That really bugged me.

@nowandaround3125 жыл бұрын
Charlotte Wong Do you have a source on that? I'm just curious, I googled it and couldn't find anything which said that alveoli die when coughing hard. However, I did learn that coughing too hard can cause you to rupture blood vessels in your anus and give you a serious hernia. It can also break ribs, but I already knew that since I think I suffered a minor rib fracture during a severe coughing fit when I was younger. I'm not certain, my parents refused to take me to the hospital, they told me it was impossible to break a rib from coughing and instead gave me extra medication. I was in pain for weeks and definitely took more than the safe limit of ibuprofen and acetaminophen. Edit: I'm not sure why I gave you my life story lol

I once booked in March a concert happening in September - the week before the concert had a wretched cold which developed in to a throaty cough - I gave my ticket away as no way was I going to be one of those heathens who hack their way through beautiful music... Another concert I did attend the conductor waited and waited for people to get rid of their coughs and splutters - each time he raised his baton to start he waited 10 seconds and if someone coughed he lowered it. went on for about 5 minutes. When the orchestra finally started playing it was incredibly still in the hall and magical - it was the opening of the Saint-Saens Organ concerto. Normally I also frown at applause in between movements - however one concert of the Gershwin Piano Concerto I went to the whole audience gave the orchestra and soloist a standing ovation after the 1st movement! Sometimes a performance transcends formality and deserves recognition.

The Lizst piece reminded me of a review of Paderewski from back in the day. The paper had no music critic on staff and so sent the sports writer. This review is quoted at length in one of Victor Borge's books (Side note: Victor Borge did classical piano comedy. Look him up). It began with "Paderewski is the best two-fisted piano fighter that ever wore hair." The end was something like, "I wouldn't spar with him for half the box office profits."
@dacoconutnut95036 жыл бұрын
Good Liszt of comments! This time I think could Handel them. You should this kind of video Bach anytime soon, because it's anti-Straussing. When I'm laughing, people ask me: "Waltz going on"? I just answer them I'm dying of laughter, even crying a bit (although not Chopin onions).

I totally agree with the comment that those who cough loudly in a concert should be punished and blacklisted. Alfred Brendel came to my home town every year until he retired and I was always in attendance at his recitals. Before he played, he always told the audience that coughing was not allowed, and the audience duly complied. Most of the audience were in the age range of 50-85, so being old does not exempt people from coughing, Brendel proved conclusively that coughing can be controlled and that there is no need to include a non-solicited vocal accompaniment to the music.

Love Rachmaninov's 2nd piano concerto. Lang Lang did a beautiful job playing that powerful concerto. It was quite an experience to hear Sergei Rachmaninov play his own concerto. It is nice to have the composer's interpretation of his own music.
