So good to see a young girl like you being a King (and Joe Hill) fan. Reading a mammoth like Insomnia in one sitting is quite a task. Well done! Next project (if you haven't already): Read It, Under the Dome, The Stand and all the Dark Tower novels in one sitting! Not all of them at the same time, of course :D Two things: You HAVE to read The Dark Tower series! 2) If you have read Rose Madder, what did you think of it? It's an underrated novel (it was published after Insomnia), and one that deserves more love and appreciation. It's one of my favorites. But It (or IT by some) will always be my ultimate favorite! Oh...and The Outsider was amazing!

I’ve read all of the ones you mentioned except The Dark Tower series 😅 It is one of my favorite books of all time, and I really enjoyed Under the Dome and Rose Madder. I wasn’t the biggest fan of The Stand personally, but can see what a good book it is objectively! Rose Madder was one of the very first Stephen King books I ever read so I have a soft spot for it, I agree it needs more love!

How did you not immediately fall asleep? I struggled with this book. Almost made me quit my dark tower read. Was the biggest road block and had me in the mud for 2 months. But I overcame.

Sorry, but this is crazy to me because this is my first king book and I absolutely love it

@@Greñas1 Some folks love the slow grind. My mind doesnt work that way. If you love Insomnia, you'll love King. I personally am not a huge fan of King, and I've read 12 of his books, which isnt much in the grand scheme of things. This one was the worst of them all.

😅 honestly I enjoyed this one lol , but I could see how people wouldn’t- definitely thicker book than it technically needs to be but I think that’s pretty standard for King 😂 definitely enjoy slower paced books!

NPR did this whole story about 4am, this very specific time that almost everyone is asleep. Night owls are usually asleep and earlier rises haven't gotten up yet so people awake at 4 am describe it as being the only person on Earth. I have had really bad insomnia off and on all of my life. I fall asleep around 2am, then wake up every hour until I give up on sleep around 5am or 6am and I will have that happen for months at a time, passing out for an entire 24 hours on Saturday or Sunday when my body crashes. I am also a very lucid dreamer and I only ever have weird nightmares and they disturb the deepness of my sleep. Had a 6 month period of insomnia at the end of last year beginning of this year. Use to just have insomnia for years at a time but now it seems to come around for 4--6 months at a time. Always brutal. Dreams get really trippy and bizarre. When my dad died it got really bad because I had insomnia with very vivid dreams where my dad was there and I would get confused and ask him why he wasn't dead and then he would be like "Oh yeah" and start dying rapidly. Went on for a year of me having vivid dreams of my dad dying at least once a week. More recently though he shows up still but he has stopped dying in front of me and I even told him how much I appreciated him not dying anymore in a dream I had about 4 months ago. Nice to see him now that he seems healthy and like his old-self, even if it is just me dreaming.

I’m glad that your dreams regarding your dad have turned into a more positive experience for you, sorry to hear that you had to go through that period of awful dreams 🥺 even if it was only a dream I’m glad the more positive dreams brought relief to you. I’ll have to check out that NPR story, I can absolutely relate to that and I bet it’ll sum up my thoughts more eloquently!
