I did make it through one recommended by my bestie but I swear the woman sounded like she was about to say, "but wait, there's more...." It was so sales-pitchy. Zero warmth and I just couldn't wait for the book to be over. So going to add this to mine! You rock

I'd like this actually, maybe just lowkey ways to track what you've read and when. I'm very much so a mood reader, so I never can predict what the next book will be. I tend to just write on my weeklies "read *insert books here as I read them*" along the margins

@JashiiCorrin2 ай бұрын
I consider myself to be more of a mood reader, but I like to have a list of things to pull from. Essentially rather than a "TBR" it functions more of a "I thought this looked cool at some point" list 😝

@JashiiCorrin i might need to join that mindset. My kindle unlimited queue keeps getting filled, and I keep having to bump a book for a new one 🤣 I'm hitting 2025 reading journal hard. Just letting the rest of this year finish up in the chaos it usually does.

I use some of these spreads already but there's definitely some that are new to me, I've made notes! Also on team 'I hate book brackets' I dont understand why everything has to be a competition 😅 To be fair, I do understand why people use them, I just hate rating things, I find it stressful like I'm going to be marked on how well I rate things, which I know is unhinged 😂

My TBR is so large that I don't even look at it anymore. Every time I turn around there are new books, and every once in a while I grab a book that is also on my TBR, but that seems to be getting rarer and rarer. I do have an ARC log, and a small TBR in my journal of books I am looking forward to in the new year. Only about 10% of those got read this year because I am one of those who finds a series and then reads every single book in the series and usually if I really enjoyed it then I read everything by that author. Hence why my TBR list doesn't usually get looked at. :)

Another point for the matrix vs the book bracket- you can use all the books you enjoyed in a year, and none of the books you didn’t (if you had a bad reading month, why should one of those books be included? And if two of your favourites for the whole year were in the same month, why should the second best book of the year not even make it onto the board?). As long as you have enough squares height/width wise, or are willing to do it in a program and print and stick instead, go wild and include all the best books and none of the ones you wish you could forget

I don't usually leave comments but I always love watching your videos, and keep wanting to use the ideas you share, however I have severe hand tremors and my handwriting is really bad so I end up feeling discouraged when I try to replicate the idea for my own journal and it looks sad and illegible. Regardless, that won't stop me from enjoying your videos!! I loved the 'non-fiction topics to explore' section, as someone who almost exclusively reads non-fiction for school and self-learning, it's something I really want to try.

Thanks for leaving a comment, it's really appreciated! 💜If it helps, I've been enjoying doing headers using the type-print-stick method 😝 Great for lettering styles that we realistically can't do ourselves, or would take too much time/effort/energy to do neatly. Might be a good trick for you too 😊

I second the suggestion for typing and then printing it out... are you able to use something like Canva to create your pretty backgrounds, then add your typing/talk to text before printing? You don't even have to print, but it's nice to have something physically in hand to go through later in life (Days, months, years. Just... later.).
@syruswolfe50693 ай бұрын
@@cvvzdesigns I will certainly look into it, I don't have a personal printer, but my school does, I'm sure I can make a batch of pages and headers for the coming month or however long and then print it and bring it home. I'm so excited now, you have no idea, I'm going to look and see what websites there are that can help make pretty designs, I know Canva is one. Oh my goodness, thank you both for the suggestions, I was so nervous putting a comment because I was unsure if it would be taken as rude or if people would be unwelcoming or unkind. I totally understand why you don‘t like the book bracket, but you could sue it as a challenge instead, so at the beginning of the year, month or quarter, whatever time period suits you, you could pick out 12 books from your TBR and randomly pit them against each other and do a number of book battles across that time period. Hmmm, I think I am actually going to do that myself next year!

Aww, a sweet idea of listing the books I own in a journal.... :-) (I'm only laughing because I have thousands of books....)

what is the journal called?
@JashiiCorrinАй бұрын
This one is from Archer & Olive 😊 I call the notebook my “R&D journal” for research and development because the layouts I set up in it are just examples 👌

The journal is amazing. But what is your accent!??!!! I hear Australian then Irish then American then ??????
@JashiiCorrinАй бұрын
Haha 😂 I'm Australian, but I've lived in New Zealand for the last 16 or so years, aaaand I pick up other people's accents (or poor imitations of) really easily, so mine's a little bit of a mixed bag 😅

I was unable to read all of the questions on the review questions list. One of my first questions regarding music, videos, or books, is would I re-consume this content? There are some stores I redo every year. As we are approaching October I will list those, "Something wicked this way comes", "The Halloween tree"(book and movie), and The Poe collection. First question, would I do this Again? Christina 🦝 P.S. What is a Trope? I never heard this word until today, and Webster's definition left it less than clear.

A trope is something that happens time and time again in stories. Something like “oh no, there’s only one bed at the inn and now our reluctant main characters have to share a bed”, or the main couple getting annoyed at each other / breaking up because they didn’t communicate clearly / at all. It’s like a common plot device 😛 something you find in lots of different books/movies/etc
