📚 Reading Journal Setup for Spring 2024 // 2nd Quarter Layout & Books

Today I'm so excited to share my Reading Journal Setup for Spring, where we're creating the cover layout for the 2nd Quarter and doing a wrap-up of some books I've been reading recently.
We're continuing with the scrapbooking style approach for the decorations I've enjoyed for this journal. It takes less time than creating drawings or decorations yourself, and it also gives me a purpose to use my growing collection of tapes and prints, haha.

Listen, those Throne of Glass books are massive! I mean, if you add up the page count of those 3 books, they're probably about the same size as 5-6 thrillers or rom-coms. If you don't have the habit of reading all the time or you're not a super fast reader (or your like is chaotic), then reading these 3 books is super impressive. You should count them as a win, reading-goal-wise!!! Also, love the Q2 cover! So lovely and soft!

I love seeing both your spreads and what you are reading or planning to read. We have a lot of crossover in books! I so enjoyed Everyone in My Family when I read it in February, so it was fun to hear what you thought. I have Recursion and For Her Consideration on my shelf right now. I’d also recommend The Mysterious Case of the Alperton Angels to you! I read it not long after Everyone and thought it was also great.

I am a speech pathologist, and although I had high grades I was often made to feel inferior in college by others saying how many times they had read the chapter or assignment and I had read once but taken notes, made notecards etc - but a graduate school professor in neuroanatomy and neurophysiology made me feel so much better. When someone asked how many times they should read the assignment he began to lecture about how we should never compare our reading to anyone else as some people only skim and have to re-read several times. Where others take their time, highlighting, making notes, etc and are slower but deeper readers… and anything in between. 💕

How do you get such quality of those tiny book covers? I struggle with that part.

I have a pretty good printer (Canon Pixma pro 100) , but what you can do to increase the printing quality is to make sure that the quality setting is set to the highest possible (it's usually on 'standard' by default). I use regular white sticker paper from Online labels which doesn't do much in my opinion, so it's definitely the settings/printer. I hope this helps! 😊

Ohhh I kinda forgot about Assassins Blade all together 😅 I can understand how it's probably a good read before Queen of Shadows (I'm like 70% done with it lol) but not necessary to follow the story!
