Tru Biz and The Verifiers are both on my TBR lists. I really enjoyed that you have given them a chance and shared your experience. Thanks! Elizabeth

I'm so excited to read True Biz! I've had a long passion of learning about Deaf culture and sign language, especially because of some of my early life experiences.

Oh cool! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it!

I studied American Sign Language for 5 years and dabbled in interpreting a bit. Learning about deaf culture was always so interesting This was a great vlog! You’re killing it with keeping up with your BOTM books! I have 3 more left unread

Wowww of course you did, you are the most interesting person ever! That’s so cool, I’d be really curious to hear your thoughts on True Biz from that perspective! And thank you - you are killing it too with only 3 left!!! 💛💛

@@SorryBookedSolid I think I’m going to add on true biz next month! And I’m not that interesting, I just had a overachieving homeschool mom who insisted on filling every second of the day with different activities/languages/sports/hobbies/etc! 😂

Just finished the audiobook for True Biz, I learned so much! Highly recommend, I agree about the ending.

How was the audiobook for what were images of ASL signs in the physical book? Did it describe the ASL motion or cut those parts out?

I just did a book swap with someone for The Verifiers and you’ve hyped it up so much for me! Definitely pushing to the top of my TBR

I’m definitely adding The Verifiers to my May box. I almost got it in March, but then made different choices. I also want to check out The Cartographers from March and have The Other Black Girl ready for my May box. I have The Book of Cold Cases in my TBR pile and recently read and enjoyed The Maid and A Flicker in the Dark, both purchased from BOTM.

Nice!! I also liked a flicker in the dark and the other black girl so you’re in for a good one there too!

Verifiers sounds like something I do for my single friend all the time 😂 love the concept. I’m surprised you’ve only seen negative reviews on Paris apartment cause I’ve only seen good!
@SorryBookedSolid2 жыл бұрын
Hahahaha. I guess for Paris apartment I just follow a lot of people who loved her previous books and were disappointed by this one! I’m glad you’re seeing people love it though!!

I saw teens in the description and skipped over selecting “True Biz” as an add on. Ughhhh, I had a feeling I should’ve gotten it. I’m adding it to my next box. Thanks for the great reviews!
@SorryBookedSolid2 жыл бұрын
Hahaha, totally get that. I do think it’s still worth it though!!

I had no idea True Biz is about deaf people! I skipped this month so I'll have to get it next month

Yess definitely add it on!!

You have to tell me all about True Biz because as someone who studied ASL in college for 5 years and went to college for ASL Interpreting I’m really interested if I would like it or if the readers who don’t know about Deaf culture are enjoying it because they are learning so much. Does that make sense? Anyways successful BOTM reading vlog!
@SorryBookedSolid2 жыл бұрын
I was thinking about you often as I was reading it and I’m not sure because I’m so far on the other end of the spectrum as you!! Two of the three MCs are fluent in ASL so learning it is not the MAIN focus of the book, but it’s definitely in there and I feel like it’s possible you’d find some of the “teaching” portions annoying haha
@LaynasBookshelf2 жыл бұрын
Waittt Gwen, how did I not know this! I took ASL every year of high school and did a semester of interpreting classes (I realized it was totally not for me) 😂 we finally have something in common, since we’re bookish opposites lol 😝
