Reading & Northern 2102: Thunder Through The Autumn Leaves

Today on October 21st 2023 we catch Reading & Northern 2102 pulling its final train of the 2023 season. R&N 2102 will pull its train starting at Reading Outer Station (ROS) all the way to Jim Thorpe and back. Also had a great day with ‪@AlleghenyRailProductions‬ and ‪@ThePennsylvaniaRailfan‬.

History on R&N 2102:
Reading Blue Mountain and Northern Railroad 2102 (historically known as Reading 2102) is a preserved "T-1" 4-8-4 "Northern" type steam locomotive. Originally built by Baldwin in 1925 as an "I-10sa" 2-8-0 "Consolidation" type locomotive for the Reading Company, No. 2102 was rebuilt by the Reading's own locomotive Shops as a 4-8-4 "Northern" in 1945, and it was used for pulling heavy coal trains for the railroad until being retired from revenue service in 1956. Between 1962 and 1964, No. 2102 was used to pull the famous Iron Horse Rambles excursion trains. After the Rambles ended in 1964, No. 2102 was sold to Steam Tours Inc. of Akron, Ohio to spend the next 23 years pulling various fan trips in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest. In 1985, it was sold again to Andy Muller to operate on his Reading Blue Mountain and Northern Railroad alongside 4-6-2 "Pacific" No. 425, until its flue ticket expired in 1991. Beginning in February 2016, the locomotive was restored to operating condition and returned to service in April 2022.

@@JLIRailPro you’re welcome my friend, I’ll be riding the F-units for the fall Foliage on Sunday the 29th on coach so I am excited, I hope to see the 40th anniversary 2023 engine at Jim Thorpe and hopefully the purple 1983 engine stays in port Clinton, I’ll be hoping on the train at Reading Outer station

I would like to come see the mighty legend 4-8-4 Reading and Northern 2102 someday maybe next year I live in Southwest Virginia in the Tri-Cities Region in the Appalachian Mountains in the Coal fields of Southwest Virginia. We're having the 81st Annual Csx Santa Train on Saturday November 18th of 111 Miles of Clinchfield's Memorial Mainline of Western Kentucky, Southwest Virginia, and East Tennessee it's a Family Tradition to see Santa riding the rails on the Clinchfield of hauling coal trains back in the day of the historical Fallen Flag Memorial Railroad Mainline in the Appalachians The train is traveling from Elkhorn City Ky to Kingsport Tn at the Clinchfield Depot on Broad Street in Downtown Kingsport TN If you never been to the Tri-Cities Region, you might like to come see East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia to see CSX Santa Train riding down the line of the family holiday tradition on the way to Kingsport you and your buddies like to see the train crossing the 1,068 ft long Copper Creek Vicduct at highway 23 about five miles from my house at Daniel Boone Rd in Gate City VA railfans like to see the Santa Train crossing the bridge at Copper Creek on it's runby at the bridge Of everyone to see the train crossing the Trestle like touching the clouds in the sky you have to come see it. If you and your buddies like to come to the Tri-Cities Region in Three and a half weeks, the CSX Santa Train is riding on the rails on its 81st Year Of 111 miles of the historical mainline of the memories of coal trains hauling coal from the mines of Kentucky and Southwest Virginia of the historical Fallen Flag Railroad The Mighty Clinchfield RR.
