Hello there! I hope you will enjoy the video :) I just wanted to let you know that I am hosting a read-a-thon during October called Fortnight Frights. It is focused on inclusion i.e. reading diversely within the Horror range and making macabre literature more accessible to people -- meaning that if you don't like reading scary stuff, there is the possibility to read horror that is on the more fun and wholesome spectrum :D For updates you can follow the Fortnight Frights twitter: twitter.com/fortnightfright

If you're getting overwhelmed just make your videos shorter, maybe 10-15mins and make them on a schedule like Mon Wed Fri that may give you enough time to read and edit but also time for other things. We don't want you getting burned out. :)

Oooh I’ve never seen this type of video on booktube and I simply LOVED it! I love stats and live making them for me as well. Did you use a special program? How did you do your graphics? I’d love to try my own (just for fun, I don’t make videos or anything!), cause it’s a great way to keep you accountable and mindful.

I don't have anyone I can discuss books with IRL. Most people around me may read a book or 2 during a vacation but even then our tastes don't match up. So I really enjoy the book club but also booktube in general. It's not the same as gushing over a book with a friend but it's still a great feeling having people to share your obsession with. :) If you enjoy autobiographies that read like stories, you might enjoy Thomas Bernhard's (He was born in the Netherlands but grew up in Austria during the Nazi regime). He published it in German in 5 short volumes but I just noticed that there is a single volume translation into English available (a little over 300 pages).

Double Death of Quincas Water-Bray sounds good and I love that cover! I am really loving the diverse classics that you have mentioned here and I'm trying to pick them up one by one. I really appreciate all the work you do discovering these and recommending them. I'm going to add The Street to my list.

I've gotten into manga this year, too, and it has totally skewed my statistics! Especially with series, as you said! I'm not mad though, it's been a wonderful addition to my reading. I really enjoyed this video, thank you for sharing :)

I'm an addicted to your chanel! I'm watching all your videos HAHAHA I love your book recommendations, you always make all the books seem so interesting! Some of the books I can't find it in Brazil, but I'm trying my best taking notes of books to read in the future. I study Japanese as well, but I'm a beginner, at the school I use Minna no nihongo, and at home I just use a bunch of other sources to practice x)

I totally get what you mean with audiobooks! I try to get an ebook, PDF, or physical copy to flip through as I go. That way, I can go back and really digest if I need to, and I often will pause whatever I'm doing while listening to highlight/note something I heard in my other copy, and my thoughts on it. Sometimes my 'lazy' (or smart??) way is just to get my phone to read the screen of a book I download to my Kindle app, or to read a highlighted chapter of a book that I found for free online.

Re reading a boyhood favourite. The thousand and one nights 🌙 ✨. I have this theory that lovecraft got his inspiration for one of his stories- specifically one of Sinbads voyages.

I just read a book that might be considered a horror story by some. I'm not sure I could interest you in it because it's long (and you did JUST say you aren't a huge fan of long books) and a very heavy read but it's House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski. If you ever want to dive into a complicated, multilayer book that will leave you thinking "What just happened?" then I can recommend it. I finished it this weekend and I have to say it gave me a "book hangover," a term I first heard Mara from Bookslikewhoa use and didn't understand at the time, but now I do. :) It's a really cool / interesting book though. Some of the pages only have a few words on them so I feel like this book was more like a 500 pager than the 700 ish pages it is.
I just DNF'd Last Children of Tokyo as well! I bought it because of the cover and it seemed like it had an interesting premise but like you, I found it really boring

Do you read comic strip compilation books? Like Calvin and Hobbes or the like? I self-published some book compilations of my comic strips and I'm curious what you would think of them, but I don't know if you're into reading strips.
