Always a strange thought upgrading in the 1920s as things theoretically still looked good but the Depression was only a few years away. They did a good job of combining the old and new parts of the bridge and of course good to see it in service nearly a century later

The twenties seemed to be a popular decade for upgrades on the Reading. I like how you said things looked good. Makes sense. They were probably pulling in lots of revenue and upgrades seemed to be taking place every where. Here in Emmaus we have two railroads. Originally the Perkiomen and the East Pennsylvania. Both were leased by the Reading. Each one has a overpass in town at different locations and they have date stamps from the twenties. Different years however. Both Reading diamond stamps.

Yeah, I would say that's the original stonework.

I think so to Jenn! That puts the stone work at about 195 years old. Absolutely remarkable. All those years of freeze and thaw and it's still solid as the day it was built

Following along as usual on various mapping sites and it's interesting to see Drehersville's Main St is only 250' long! My guess is that some time before 1951 (the earliest image on Historic Aerials) it extended to a total 800' to what's now the intersection of Hawk Mountain & T726, the latter of which used to connect to Pheasant Run.

Wow Shawn you are spot on!! Go to the community section. I just posted a picture of the bridge that used to connect the two. In the fall we will be able to see the abutment for said bridge.

The story behind that watch could go so many directions. Truly priceless if you ask me.
