Reading Rainbow: My Little Hen / My Hen has Laid an Egg

I distinctly remembered this episode. My family recorded it when I was very young on VHS along with a lot of other Reading Rainbow episodes, and the hen laying song was one of the most memorable parts of this one episode, since it replaced the commonly used reprise of the series' theme song. Interesting thing to note is that chicken hens actually do repeatedly make a distinctive steady clucking sound followed by a squawk immediately before and after they lay eggs. It's to inform the flock (and particularly the rooster) that they shouldn't move from the area because the hen needs to lay.

Wow, I remember this, this was from one of my favorite Reading Rainbow episodes! Memories are suddenly flooding back! This was from the Renaissance festival episode. I remember being fascinated when they showed how a spinning wheel is used.
