I have learned more and more that I don’t need to be reading every second of the day to be a “real reader”! Definitely agree with taking a break from hobbies if you’re just not feeling it!

I realize I get slumpy when reading the last book in a series, I think some part of me doesn't want a wonderful series to end and makes me read it real slow and not want to pick it up in fear it will end too fast. I'm not going to avoid finishing series because it's also satisfying when I read a whole series. As you said, "don't force it" so I've come to terms that last books in the series will just take me longer to get through.

I always have a similar issue! Right after I finish the last book in a series, I just want the series to keep going, so it becomes so hard for me to pick up another book!

When I'm in a reading slump and I feel the need to read (sometimes I do not than) I often re-read my favourites. That helps to go back in the reading mood, cause I now what to expect and that it wil be great^^ Sometimes it also helps whatching Booktube und see People speaking about Books and how they love reading etc. Than I dont have the feeling to loose the connection to reading and books, even if I am not in the mood to read by myself. Sometimes I pick up a Audiobook and that also helps.

most of the time when i’m getting into a reading slump it is actually because i am too distracted by my phone. i always think: "now i’m going to read" but end up scrolling my way through twitter or instagram anyways. switching my phone off and putting it somewhere i can’t reach it helped me a lot.

When I'm in a reading slump I don't pick up any books that I'm expecting or hoping to be new favorites. Starting a book that I think I'll enjoy but not love is a lot less pressure than picking up something I think will be 5 stars. I'm learning that not every reading experience needs to blow me away to be worth my time.

Whenever I have a major reading slump, I read a cliche romance novel that always ends up being in the 1-2 star range. For some reason, decidedly sub-par romances with no plot and unrealistically attractive characters are really great to get me out of a slump.

If you haven't tried the anime Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu I really recommend it, it was my entry into the wonderful world of anime. :) For a reading slump I normally pick up a book outside of the genre of the last book I read. So for example if the last book I read was fantasy I pick up a historical fiction or contemporary. Sometimes I feel I'm in a book hangover and just need to refresh my mind.

I have the haaaardest time leaving books or DNFing them altogether but what does help is just setting a timer for say 30 mins. I put my phone away and I read until the alarm. If that doesn't work at all and there's no hope, I put the book away and start another one in a completely different genre. I generally go back to the one I'd put away because what I really needed was a change of genre. ;)
