I totally agree with you with the friends to lovers trope. most of them are super annoying but when it's done in a good way i love this trope. i can't think of tones of good friends to lovers books right now but Swear on this life is the one that comes to my mind. idk, sometimes this trope really ends my life and sometimes it annoyes the hell out of me.

I don’t love vlogs, but I’ve been wondering when you might recommend more romance...I clicked so fast! 😄 For Hating Game vibes (HG is prob my fave romance ever), I recommend K. Bromberg’s Faking It, especially on audio! (I hated the other k bromberg book I’ve read but Faking it is a top fave.)

i'm also not really a fan of friends to lovers stories. i think that because the characters have so much backstory that we don't get to see as the readers it makes it hard (at least for me) to connect with their romance. but when it's a story about people meeting for the first time or being adversaries then starting a romance you get more of the experience of being there for the whole journey of their relationship.

I'm in the middle of Crazy Stupid Bromance right now, and I totally agree with you. I'm not vibing with these characters and it feels like the most juicy parts of the book have nothing to do with the romance. I don't know what makes friends to lovers so hard to pull off, but I agree that most of the time, it makes for a boring book. I think it works better if you see them become friends and then romance blooms. Like, I love "hate to friends to love". When they start the story already having a tight, functional relationship, it's dull.

Same on friends to lovers- you either just hear about their backstory as the past or you follow them from childhood which I also don’t like. I like the angst of enemies to lovers.

I agree, friends to lovers is so boring. Enemies to lovers is so much better. I recommend Kristan Higgins books-especially the Blue Heron series. The Best Man is a great enemies to lovers romance!

I am not a big romance reader, but there is one writer that I just seem to adore all her romances, and that is Milly Johnson. She does the British romantic comedy so freaking well, and I just finished The Birds & the Bees, which had some really good "rivals to lovers" romance.

I always find it hard to get into romances because I feel like there is not enough action and suspense. I haven't loved a romance story since Fault in our stars really... BUT I love watching you talk about romances... Just really intriguing; love it.
