I used to work at an apartment complex and there would be switches not attached to anything by counters because a garbage disposal had been removed!

So I have a switch in my living room and it doesn't do anything! It used to control an outlet, but it was annoying so when we had some work done on the house, we had it changed, but we never removed the switch. So it's possible it used to control something but not anymore!
