This is a new idea for a playlist where I read some of your comments and reply to them in what is hopefully an entertaining fashion. Don't take all my yabbering here too seriously. I have seen many other youtubers do this and I thought it would be a good way to interact with all of you.

I enjoyed this video. The amount of sarcasm was amazing! Like, there was a good amount of seriousness, silliness, and sarcasm. Also to make it better next month could you add some of the replies on the comment if there were any? I find replies hilarious sometimes

my two Russian Tortoises did that for 4 months, but they stopped now so i think it is based on the individual tortoise, not the glass vivarium

I've been thinking about getting a Russian tortoise for awhile and was wondering where you got yours because I've heard that most torts from pet stores are wild caught and may be sick. Love your vids Thanks

Hi, we got our first Russian Torts about a year and a half ago. They came as a pair and live well together. First pet for my son - first reptile for me. Your videos were very helpful because we wanted to know the best way to take care of them. For the past 2-3 months our female (Natalia) has been spending quite a bit of time sleeping in her house. Is this normal? Is she maybe hibernating? Could it be illness or depression? (don't mean to sound stupid, but we want to take the best care of them) Thanks!

Aunt Chubs Your tortoise isn't hibernating but it may be going through brumation or basically trying to hibernate. The difference is that during hibernation the tortoise doesn't eat or drink and is put into a box at a consistent temperature of around 4/5°C but it still needs to drink during brumation and the tortoise is in its normal enclosure, so just think of it as the tortoise taking some time out. As long as you've been caring for the tortoise well it shouldn't have any problems in terms of illness and I don't think a tortoise can be depressed based on 6 years of experience with them. A year and a half is quite a long time nevertheless so just look around the tortoise closely at the skin and shell and use your intuition. Mediterranean tortoises (i.e. russians, hermanns, horsefields) are a hardy species so with good care it's unlikely the tortoise will have any serious issues.

I'm getting a russian tortise! But I saw that you used mulch for the bottom of the cage. Can I use that for my Russian tortise?
@RussianTorts
@RussianTorts 7 жыл бұрын
Yes. However not all mulch is safe. You have to use cypress mulch (it has to be specifically labeled as cypress mulch). The generic garden mulch you find in hardware stores is almost always cedar mulch and this is toxic to tortoises.

How would you even be killing your tortoise? ive been watching your vids for a while now and ive never seen you do anything bad to your tortoise you seem like a amazing pet owner. But i wouldnt turn it upside down after its eaten as the food can rise up and fall down into the lungs and they could choke and die on it but apart from that you are relly nice to your torty :)

Sometimes tortoises do this to help with their digestion. Even though it is usually dirt rather than large pebbles.

If you’d caught the tortoise flipped itself upside down, i guess it’s okay to make a video to educate ppl. If not, you could do a quick demonstration to us by flipping it, but it’s not okay to tell everyone to do it to their own tortoises. Your rationale that ‘a healthy tortoise should be able to right itself’ is BS. You are sending a wrong message to young kids esp to flip their tortoises willy nilly. Who are u to say a healthy tortoise should be treated this way? So now ppl should check their tortoise health status by intentionally flipping them & causing the them distress? what do ppl do if their tortoises can’t flip & thus deemed ‘unhealthy’ according to your bs logic? Toss the tortoise? ‘There’s sand in his eyes but it’s no biggie.’ You sound like a psychopath. At least apologize to the tortoise and quickly wash him after the experiment. There’s not a hint of empathy or compassion in your voice. God knows what other experiments you’ve subjected the poor tortoise to. How about let someone throw you in a sandstorm & see if u can survive? Sand in your eyes, no biggie. Pressure on your lungs, no biggie. The thrower can rescue u any time but u won’t know it & you will be in much distress while u r struggling. U also didn’t add the disclaimer that if a tortoise is on a flat solid ground, it won’t be so easy to flip itself upright cos it can’t dig a hole to slowly prop itself up. So u will see a bunch of zidiots like yourself put their tortoises on concrete ground to try it out for their own sadistic fun.
