THIS IS WHERE WE TALK THINGS OUT...1. I designed the cover 😜 2. The illustrations were done by the author herself. Caitlin Marceau is an amazing author.

Really enjoying your blogs, Gabby, as always. 😄 * And FYI- I'm a bookseller at B&N. Especially with a newer book, if it's a hardback, it should be up front in whatever set of shelves it applies to (General fiction, Mystery/thriller/horror, sci-fi/fantasy, bestseller). If it's not there, and it was supposed to be out a certain week, we do have specific books that we can't put out until it's supposed to be out on Tuesday (James Patterson, Jodi Picoult, etc. Usually the big ones that will get a LOT of sales). We may have copies in the store, but we cannot sell them until the specified day, per our corporate office. Great example: that new edition of Fourth Wing that a lot of people are wanting, the one with the red cover? That can't be sold until the day it's supposed to be out. No exceptions. Your book should have been on the floor though (it came out 9/5). So, that tells me that if you can't find it on the floor, and you didn't find it in the Mystery/Thriller or Horror sections (at the beginning of those sections... That's where we have our hardcovers now, followed by paperbacks), that tells me that, if it's "in stock", it's on a book cart either on the floor, or in the back receiving area. So, here's what you should do: 1. Look yourself first at all the areas I recommended. 2. Go to customer service, and tell them that you can't find the book on the floor at all. They'll try and hunt it down for you. 3. When they can't find it, ask them when it came in last. I know my store gets behind a lot with our receiving/shelving sometimes. When they look up the book, they can instantly tell when we received it (aka, when we checked it in). That should tell them whether or not it's out on the floor, or if they need to check in the back. 5. Above all, be patient. The booksellers are usually beginning their Christmas shopper surge about now. A lot more people gravitate towards B&N around mid-October. Also, many stores are short-staffed due to school, illness, etc. It's not too terribly bad yet, but the more patient you are, the more grateful the booksellers will be, and the better experience you will have.

I really enjoyed Camp Damascus, but I thought it would be set more at the conversion camp, so I was little disappointed that it wasn’t. I also enjoyed This is Where We Talk Things Out. I read Magnum Opus by her last weekend and it was also a strong novella with a good twist. I like her stuff!

Me seeing Gabby listening at 2.8, boosts my audiobook to 2.5…😵‍💫🤯…goes back down to 1.75. 😂 I finished The September House this past week. I do mental ratings as I read and it started at a 3. Just past halfway, it was a 4. I give it a 5⭐️ by the end. Loved the gross stuff.

Chuck Tingle is bisexual and autistic, so he put a lot of himself into Camp Damascus. It's also his first traditionally published book! He does talk about gender stuff on his pages too which has been interesting to me. His next book is coming out this summer called Bury Your Gays! He is really most known for his Tingleverse niche erotica stories and hia online persona (especially on tumblr) Just thought I'd share ^^

Tell Me I’m Worthless put so much emphasis on SA as the main horror element. Whenever that is the case with horror it totally takes me out of it, and I don’t think it’s very creative either. I didn’t hate the book, but it is incredibly hard to read.

I wasn't aware that the novel "Camp of Damascus" was inspired by the Syrian capital city, Damascus, which is intriguing. However, my question is, does this book give off vibes similar to "The Troop," especially considering the notable spitting bugs scene?

Great video. I thought I would mention that something with your footage seems like blurry - it’s happens when you move the camera (when your grocery shopping). I noticed in the Japan vlogs but thought it was a one off. Not sure if it’s a setting like stabilization or something.

I was really excited because I read 3 of these - Camp Damascus, Tell Me I'm Worthless, and The September House. I gave September House 5 stars, Tell Me I'm Worthless 4 stars, and Camp Damascus 2.5 stars - I even sent a voice message to a friend saying, before I saw this video, "I'm pretty sure she'll like Camp Damascus but not care for the others." And I think if anyone knows your tastes, that should have been obvious. I'm sorry you wasted your time, especially with Rumfitt's book, but it isn't a book I'd generally recommend anyway. Your fan base should know better....but great vlog anyway, thanks!

Often I've said such and such book would be better if substantially shorter but what if the version I've been reading already is 100 pages shorter than it was. For some people the act of writing a story is hard and painful work and for others they'll keep putting words down until someone pulls them from the keyboard. Then we get to editors - some of whom could be represented as bearded dwarfs with big sharp axes, while others are the single most persecuted group since....well I don't know exactly but since a pretty long time.

Somehow, "Tell Me I'm Worthless" actually sounds like should be expected. The brain droppings if a messed up mind, constantly being terrorized by things that are not actually there. Lets be honest here. The world described does not actually exist outside of these people's own communities.
