Idk about other groups, but BTS having all of their solo releases was for a very specific reason. They realized that they had been BTS for so long and never truly took the time for each member to explore their individual colors. So they all prepared different projects to release while they’re doing their enlistments. And then Blackpink members are so individualized that each of them having solos makes sense for them. Now while group members doing solos isn’t anything new, I theorize that bts and Blackpink doing their solos is apart of why more groups are doing it these days. Not saying they’re copying, just saying that they got inspired. Also, I was scrolling on my phone while the VMA’s was on so I wasn’t paying too much attention to Lisa’s performance, but I was so surprised when I saw her performance being ripped to shreds on social media 😅 I see so much potential in Lisa as an artist and she tends to fall short will every release of hers in some way. I hope that she improves and finds her footing as she continues on this new path

(Note: bi demiromantic ace person here, I am queer so don't come for me for being queerphobic, I am not) I get what the person who talked about not assuming idol's sexuality was saying, but they kind of comtradicted themselvss with "there are some idols who are obviously queer". If we're going by what they themselves have said, then yes that's good. But if youre assuming based on behavior or style or something, that's still assuming, whether it's straight or gay. I know straight men who dress like e-girls and wear makeup and do theater and I know gay men who are corporate goth bikers and stereotypical hiker outdoorsy dudes who present in a typically masculine way. Looking at someone and actually thinking "oh theyre obviously gay" or "they're obviously straight" are both harmful and usually rely on stereotypes of behavior. If you're joking about dudes doing something super gay, that's fine, most dudes who are friends act super gay, regardless of sexuality (proof: my entire high school choir tenor and bass sections) (also the circus guys when I was in a circus, the gayest shit i ever saw) (also my sister's straight boyfriend and his friends). Or if a guy does somthing more "masculine" and youre like "theres no was hes not straight" it's still weird. I've seen comments like "Hongjoong from Ateez is so obviouly gay" and "Namjoon is so obviously straight" like we do not know these people. We are not entitled to knowing their sexuality. Its a very personal thing and in a homophobic country like South Korea, it could hurt their careers if it comes out. Also, have we learned nothing from the Kit Connor situation, where he was basically forced by so-called "fans" to come out as bi before he was comfortable or ready? Sorry, as a queer person with many queer friends, most of whom live in fear of being outed to their family, church, coworkers, and other people, I get pretty passionate about queer rights and stuff. Ultimately, we are not entitled to idol's sexuality UNLESS they make it known to us and are okay with sharing it.

Another note: If you're GOING to assume a sexuality, go the way of the Fallout or Skyrim default, which is bi/pan. (Nearly every character in Fallout is either unconfirmed sexuality or canonically bi). But of course biphobia is still a thing and people still get mad at bisexuals for existing. I do see a lot of biphobia in kpop spaces unfortunately.

Ace (asexual) means I don't feel sexual attraction at all, demiromantic means I have to have a deep relationship with someone before any romantic feelings develop (makes dating tough because I have no chemistry with anyone lol) (literally i take everything as platonic and don't see interest in anything romantic until i know someone VERY closely), and bi means I just have the romantic attraction (what little I have lmao) towards both men and women. Sexuality and romantic attraction can be a confusing or complex thing, and some people do use labels and some don't. Usually I just go by queer but when I'm being specific I'll say all that. Some people will dive into the details of what feels right for them, some people just know vague things about what they like and that's that for them. It's pretty interesting to research, and even I don't understand all of it, so I'm still learning.

Probably gonna incriminate myself with this, but the main reason why I disliked BTS before even giving them and kpop in general a try was because of them winning all the awards at award shows. Sounds very childish, I know, but I genuinely felt that more deserving artist were getting snubbed. After, getting into kpop about a year ago, I can see a little bit of why they're so well respected and loved. Definitely gotta do so more digging though. I intend on going through their music catalog and I've already liked a couple songs so wish me luck.

Actually most of the members solo projects are quite personal and thought provoking and there are different flavours of musicality that are explored with almost a sense of purpose. I'm mentioning the solo projects since you seem to want to check out recent music. Other than BTS's music I'd definitely advocate for TheRose. I feel like the voices of the band members are the real jewels of their music but sonically as well their music screams quality. Also Woosung's solo music is quite amazing as well.

I'm honestly pretty confused by the "all boygroup music is noisy" opinion, it feels kinda outdated. The noisy boygroup trend definitely was a thing around 2019-2021 (though even back then there were a lot of boygroups that didn't follow it), but in the past few years there's definitely been a strong shift towards more bright, poppy/funky and easy-listening music for boygroups. Looking at the most popular new boygroups like Riize, Boy nextdoor, TWS or ZB1 (as well as sooooo many less popular groups) clearly shows this. Of course there still are some noisy boygroup songs being released, but it's not even remotely the majority anymore.

The main reason why people find armys more insufferable than blinks is because both groups are differently toxic...blinks are mostly toxic towards each other.....they have so many solo stans they're busy hating on each other and one members solo stan hates on other members....armys for the most of the time is delusional toxic. It's no one's business but theirs, and there is no reason we should be debating it. About Newjeans, I don't think they are in the wrong. Right now their world is crashing down and they don't know what to do, they have no adult figures in their life who could guide them the correct way, or explain to them why the things that are happening are happening, and the new management is brushing off their concerns, a stark contrast to MHJ who would protect them, so they obviously think these new people are villans. I do not support MHJ she is disgusting, nor do I support Hybe, neither have been managing this situation well, and they are ruining both Newjeans, and Illit's careers, I support the groups. I think netizens don't understand how manipulation works, or don't have the patients to let them learn and heal from this. Netizens in this situation are only thinking about themselves, and what they think they would handle this, but listen to a person like me who is a victim of manipulation, when you are a victim you do not know you are a victim. You think the perpetrator is a good nice person, and you don't understand why other people wouldn't like them. When you start to question if they are really a good person you shut it down because that person has been so nice to you, so why should you question them. No matter how many times they do you wrong you will not see it, unless you go to therapy or get yourself out of the situation. I only realized that I was heavily manipulated in my situation this year. It doesn't happen overnight, and you have to be patient with victims.

genuine question: why is thinking Le Sserafim have bad vocals not a valid reason to dislike them? that's like saying you're not allowed to dislike a movie for having a bad plot, or a video game for havind bad gameplay. because "we" say that's not what you should focus on honestly, I really liked Sserafim a while back (they were the one saving grace of Hybe imo) but their last two comebacks were not my thing, personally. but i'd be lying if I said that the final nail on their coffin for me wasn't their Coachella performance. obviously people like groups for different reasons. and many times, vocals are not the only reason why people choose to stan groups vs not. but to me vocals (along with actually good music) are some of the most important factors. it's kind of frustrating seeing all these Hybe groups (especially girl groups) coming in one after another and just destroying the charts off name alone when it's clear many of these people were not prepared/trained enough to debut. and the members themselves are also to blame to a degree cause let's be frank, people know when they can sing and when they can't. and they can choose to try and improve or not I don't hate the Sserafim girls, and people who harass them are obviously in the wrong and take things too far. i'm also not saying your rappers and dancers need to have Taeyeon level vocals. but when every member strugglesto even hold a note, and hasn't improved in years.. yea honestly I kinda really dislike that

I only can speak for ASTRO in this case, but with what happened in 2023 to them , they still in the healing process so everyone is rather focused on Solo activities. We got Circles as the first 4STRO song, that gave us the knowledge they not done yet. We got two solo debuts this year with Eunwoo and Sanha, both are focused on working through the pain with the music. I guess Jinjin will be the last one wih a solo debut and then entlist, which is why I kind of hope that this will be somewhere next year...Jinjin is publishing one song per month under his project, to show us different sides of him and laso may be for him to find his favorite style. (he produceds everything on his own) And Rocky left Astro so it is normal for him going solo and boy is living his best life and I'm so freaking happy for him, that he can try everything he always wanted to

I don't think your example with Ed Sheeran is valid. Most of the international fans can speak English and everything is on the internet accessible to all. But I doubt most of the international fans can speak Korean, have Naver, Melon, and all that installed and used, and take time to learn and understand cultural nuances that are very different due to Confucianism and SK's history from reputable sources and not k-tubers. Of course, separatism is unproductive, but I don't think international fans should disregard the superiority of access to information that Korean fans have.

No one can tell otherwise but Barbs are maybe in top 3 of the biggest artists's fandoms. This means they don't have a problem with Nicky and her man. So, I don't stan Hyuna cause I don't like her music and at the same time if I stanned her, I wouldn't have a problem with her man choice for the same reason I don't care who Nicky is dating and still listen to her music (I like Nicky's music). kpop idols are expected to be role models, rappers have been making songs about killing the police and doing crime for years. These two genres stand for completely different things, and have completely different target audiences. comparing them is pointless. (also Nicky's man is much worse)

Plus, Kpop is not a genre but an industry just like the western industry. There are rap, pop, jazz, r&b within Kpop and Hyuna has done rap in her songs as well. Hi I wrote the opinion about SM (and the "encore is the end of a shift" one)! Thank you so much for including my opinions and I love your videos! I just wanted to clarify that with the SM case, it wasn't alleged plagiarism, SM actually used the same producer who reused something that wasn't his to reuse, then after backlash, SM sneakily added the credits much later. They also used a skateboard that had stickers of TXT members' names (Soobin and Beomgyu) for an aespa photoshoot, which is very weird to me. SM seems to have an odd obsession with TXT. But I hate the plagiarism debate too, especially with music (there's only so many notes on a keyboard!) and I truly believe the same idea or concept can be thought of twice in complete isolation. I'm a writer and have definitely come up with a "totally original" idea, only to realize it's been done by a very popular media before. So the whole "this song sounds like that song" thing is pretty pointless to me, unless there's a legal crediting aspect (like in the SM TXT case).

I didnt see catch the form so here are some of my own opinions: 1. Bp are pretty hated but sometimes I think it's because they contribute to the hate themselves. I'm not talking about ridiculous scandals e.g Lisa's crazy horse but the below average quality performances they have on their tour when they charged almost as much as Beyonce was insane. This next one is more personal but the way Jennie keeps associating herself with icky people makes me not see her in a very good light. Like yk how kpop stans, me included, feel like idols have an angel like aura, I feel like that aura has been stripped clean off of Jennie in light of her career activities. I still don't hate any of them but I do feel disillusioned by them and this is coming from someone who ulted them a little more than 2 years ago. 2. I kinda agree with the nwjns and fifty fifty opinion. Not the fifty fifty part since I have no idea what exactly went down there. But I actually watched that live and saw a Korean person break down their exact words and the 16 y/o from that group saying exactly this to the higher ups funding her entire career "stay in your lane and do your job and we'll do ours" was quite off putting to say the least especially considering the fact that the way they've been demanding mhj back like she didn't almost launch a coup against their own company. And that's not even mentioning the fact that Danielle praised mhj right in front of Eunchae on a music show (Lsf is one of the groups mhj smeared on and due to her doing this the group, which was already facing a hate train, got sh!t on pretty badly by haters). They've deliberately burned bridges with almost every group in that company and when the groups' managers tell their groups to ignore them they get surprised. Like babygirl you're the enemy here 😭. Anyway I hope those girls get therapy or someone calls cps on them cuz the parents are just as much at fault as mhj. Oh and I'm gonna nicely remind everyone who's made it this far that the woman has a SA lawsuit on her along with 2 others, one of them being embezzlement. Yeah. I'm not saying hybe is completely clean but compared to this woman hybe looks like white marble. I also wanna add that even though they're young in a grueling industry, they're at least old enough to know that their actions are hurting their peers. Like yes mhj being mhj is not their fault but some of accountability does fall on them. 3. Absolutely agree on new woman being SO much better than her first 2 songs. I legit can't help but wonder if she was forced to take those songs because they're so awful and the difference in the music she's making independently vs with yg is night and day. 4. There were a lot of things that made the vma performance not worth watching at all. But I do think that that performance doesn't determine who she is as a performer. I think she just needs better set designs and choreo that shows off her dancing more. Besides from the clips I've seen that vma performance looks so uncoordinated and messy and kind of even low budget, like what was going on there? 5. I'm not trying to be hateful but knetz shouldn't be allowed to vote on survival shows imo cuz they always go for the youngest and prettiest one. It's very rare they actually pick someone for their talents. Even though I'm speaking from observation I might be wrong so take it with a grain of salt.

If you were to ask me what I thought of Natasha I would say that I like her, but if you were to ask me on deeper level, I would say that I absolutely love her. She helped me become comfortable with looking at myself in the mirror. I always get a dopamine boost when she uploads a mew video, she is a smart young woman who is always willing to accept criticism and understand people’s opinions. And she loves Wonyoung and K-pop and I love being able to relate to her on that aspect.. She is such a kind person and I know her parents are proud of making her. 🩷
