I struggle to understand why so many authors make obscenely old/immortal characters who still think and behave about concepts like love and morality as though from a human-life-expectancy perspective. I’ve lived 40 years and my perspective on those things has shifted multiple times, and drastically. How do we get this bevy of ancients still treating limerence and lust like it’s twu wuv?

@@vic.overhere I’m actually a published poet/author and professional writer, so I feel comfortable enough to speak my opinion with authority; not that one needs my level of accomplishments to voice their opinions and question writing choices. I don’t ask Rachel to review my work because I want to continue enjoying her reviews as a reader invested in finding good literature. I don’t apologize for not finding this to be good literature, but it does make me curious why you’re so offended by that.

12:10 a rEALLY easy explanation for whynobody is killing anyone even after the 30 days could've been, if Aster was a good writer, that different isles have preset national alliances. So for example, say moon isle and sky isle had an alliance- that means that if someone kills Azul, then the moon isle would go to war against whichever nation it was that killed Azul. We literally see that in the real world, it's not a crazy concept, if anything it's reasonable because it would bolster trade and relations between places. It would also increase tension in the book, because Isla would feel like she can't trust Azul because Azul is with Cleo or whatever the national alliances are. BUT NOOO. ASTER JUST SAYS THINGS AND HOPES IT WILL WORK

Oh yeah! And get this the Vinderlands are supposed to be all men because of course all men of color are violent unless it’s azul and of course it’s not explained whether there are any other actual men who are still on the wildling newland or if they only have women there and all the men turned into savage vinderlands that they actually killed all of too. But also why would they separate from other wildlings when there weren’t any curses it’s very much written by someone who is biracial and probably has a model minority mentality for Isla because think about it she’s the only wildling who both doesn’t have the wild curses and she’s not considered savage and she’s the only one who also has nightshade blood sooo….
