Ready for concrete on the off grid studio shelter.

In this video we do the final touches to get the foundation for our off grid studio ready. We plan to pour concrete in a few days. Also head back to Mammoth to check on a few things before the atmospheric river starts hitting next week.

I love that you are finally getting to do something for yourself, that little place on the compound is going to be cool! The location of the fire pit is nice, but it's really close to the grass. Please be sure to have some sort of spart screen on that thing and fire extinguishers close by, it takes nothing for a fire to go nuts in those conditions and you don't want to be "that guy". LOL How weird is it that there isn't snow in the mountains yet? We don't have much here in WA either, skiing is usually open around Thanksgiving and it's been pretty limited to non existent. : (

Sweet ! Keep your ass as faraway from the Mad Max Zombie Apocalypse as possible! Most people nowadays are so out of shape in the Big cities, and can maybe walk 1 mile or so, without passing out! Let alone up the side of a large embankment to the top of your hill encampment! The higher ground will definitely give you the home field advantage!

2:00 That sky is entirely normal. Look at old WW2 war movies of B-17's flying out of Britain, sometimes even see trails coming off the propeller tips if conditions are right. Contrails were a significant problem as they highlighted exactly where our aircraft were for enemy targeting, but there was no way to avoid them. Very first high alt planes left contrails, well understood phenomena. There are conditions where they don't form or don't last long or even intermittent, that's when atmospheric moisture is low or marginal. When natural high wispy clouds are around that tends to indicate good persistent contrail conditions. Hate to be the one to tell ya. 😉

What do you have at the ranch for a potable water source?

I'd think you want big overhangs over 'glass wall' areas to limit direct summer sun heating, winter sun will enter anyway on the south side if done properly, simple 'passive heating'. West side even bigger overhangs so summer sun only enters very late in the day.
