Well.... "safe"... If it is still true, it was mentioned that anyone who doesn't confirm to canibalism towns 1920s style will be cannibalised, so as long as u dress like them you are safe. Also, unless killed by angelic weapon a sinner will recover/regenerate/reborn, so while beating eaten by violent cannibals sucks, at least most of their victims will live. So it depends how you look at it, they have a stable community and are polite if one confirms, but even their violence and horrible crimes aren't AS bad cuz most of their victims probably come back later (unless they keep them in the town as a living one person meat factory, cutting off bits and wating to be regenerated, which honestly sounds worse than being killed and eaten once)

So Alastor may be a serial killer who wants power however it has been confirmed that he does have a moral system albeit very twisted and it’s heavily implied he only kills ppl who can fight back like other Overlords to prove his strength or those who attack him first, and the show has shown that he does indeed form friendships

So many people talking about Alastor doesn’t care about Charlie, but this guy just casually hands her all the tools for success past what’s expected of him. Even making a deal with her, he still goes above and beyond- he promised information and then proceeded to hand her an army. I know he’s going to be a villain and antagonistic force, but I don’t doubt that he legitimately has a soft spot for Charlie. It’s not her fault who her parents are or what they’ve done.

Ok I really LOVE Rosie. She was like the perfect mother figure Charlie needed in that moment. And Alastair truly does care for Charlie. He knew that was the exact place he needed to take her to not only help with the fight but also help with her self esteem. And yes he also very clearly wants the extra power that being associated with her helps him have but he very clearly does care for her.
