So glad you're making these videos WS. Compact survival kits are very interesting to me, and your reviews are reliably balanced and intelligent. A kit like this ceases to be "mini" as the contents seem more suited to a waistpack or sling bag, and now we're talking actual hiking kits (which I also love). Still, it's affordable, includes a guide, and the waterproof pack is nice. I just wish they had compacted everything down in size to make a pocket kit. Hard NO on the razor blades---yikes!!

Yea the blades are definitely a scary item for sure it would be hard to even make a handle safely I would honestly rather just see a utility knife blade. What I never understood with these kits is why they don’t just add a victorinox classic SD it’s like the most massive suggestion people put out that enjoy these kits. Thank you again for the kind words and I seriously do appreciate every single view and comment!

Not a bad kit. alot of useful items in there. I would add a multi tool
@whitetailsurvival24305 ай бұрын
Yea your right a small fixed blade knife and a multitool would be a great addition
@aaronsacco97485 ай бұрын
Really impressed with this kit. Really feel that a more substantial cutting tool, Ferro Rod and striker and water purification tabs would be great additions. Really love the two nails and the hair ties. Very unique!!
@whitetailsurvival24305 ай бұрын
Yea them are two unique items for sure I feel like the hair ties would last way longer than a regular rubber band. A small fixed blade knife would be awesome. They probably left the purification tabs out so the kit doesn’t have an expiration date. They are really cheap though

If the kit were nothing but aquatabs, a condom and a Victorinox, would it make you happy, Aaron? Or should it just be nothing but aquatabs?

Add aqua tabs for that clear bag.
@whitetailsurvival24305 ай бұрын
That’s a great idea I thought of that immediately I was wondering why they didn’t put them in there I guess maybe for the expiration date. It definitely would be a great addition

I'm surprised that the razor blades aren't wrapped inside of Bandaids. Lol

Yes the razor blades are definitely in a soft package I think I would swap them out at least for regular utility knife blades shaver blades are not very ridged they would work in a pinch but that’s it

Yeh water purification tabs,multi tool?or small knife. A protein bar. Mosquito repel 🇬🇧🇵🇭
@whitetailsurvival24305 ай бұрын
Yes bug repellent is very looked over. It sucks getting chewed up by mosquitoes all night. Water purification tabs are important for a night or two in the woods and something to munch on would help with morale there’s more than enough room to add it in there I imagine they only kept it out to keep from adding expiration dates on the kits

I bought some of these kits over a year ago. I could get in my old eBay and Amazon carts and see if that information is in there somewhere but if the kit can still be purchased I will link it and let everyone know like I did on the last 3! Thanks for the comment I appreciate it!

Water purification tabs and water bags
@whitetailsurvival24303 ай бұрын
Yes that’s a big miss on that one! I’m guessing that’s so the kit doesn’t need an expiration date. Thanks for the comment i appreciate it!

Those cheap ponchos along with a tall 13 gallon trash bag to stand in will keep you completely dry no matter how hard it rains. The simplest and fastest shelter you can make. Just find a tree to lean against until the rain stops. I'd also add a better cutting tool and ditch the tweezers for a wood cutting saber saw blade. Since I sew, I can give you a little tip. Replace any safety pins that come in these kits with Dritz brand pins. Singer and all the others that are routinely included in these kits just bend like they're made from copper wire. It's a little thing, but the Dritz ones are the only ones that will give you any utility, if you are going to include safety pins to begin with. (I think you should) I would never trust paper matches to be my only fire starter. A ferro rod with striker's absence, and some other omissions from this kit, such as water purification tabs, shows this company to be phony. You really are going for the most reviewed pocket survival kits, aren't you?
@whitetailsurvival24305 ай бұрын
I’m going to try to find more than anyone else 😁 thanks for watching. I agree with your assessment of the kit. Cutting tool is very important. A saw blade is a great idea! I often wonder about the purification tablets being excluded. I believe this is done to avoid an expiration date. Nothing else in the kit can really expire. People don’t want to buy an expired kit and that really only gives you 4 to 5 years to sell a kit. That’s all I can think of. Sewing is definitely a lost art no one really knows how to do it anymore except acouple peoples grandmas. I can stitch some stuff back together but that’s about what my extent is. I’ve sewn a few zippers on. Thanks for the view and comment it was a good one!
@mrhalfstep5 ай бұрын
@@whitetailsurvival2430 You make an excellent point about the expiry date on the tabs. I bought a number of them for my own kits and noticed the dates. Do they actually expire? I think I assumed that they were about as truthful as the dates on OTC meds. Studies have proven those to be off by as much as 40 years. Can you or anyone else point me toward a study that supports the expiry date. I did find out that chlorine bleach expires in like 6 months, so that lends some credence to the pills, I guess. What would be an alternative, a small bottle of iodine, maybe?
@dougbotimer80053 ай бұрын
Take some junk out and use the good pieces to fill out a good kit.
@whitetailsurvival24303 ай бұрын
I agree good cutting tool and a better shelter item would be awesome plus a bic lighter would help a lot this kit is big so more stuff can definitely be added. The trail marking tape can probably be removed and put into a hunting pack.
